Hung Yen: Tens of thousands of people participate in the national walk "Moving forward with Vietnam"

A record number was set in the national walking event “Moving Forward with Vietnam” which took place in Hung Yen province early in the morning of August 16. According to the Organizing Committee, tens of thousands of people from communes and wards in the area participated in this special event.

The walking activity "Moving Forward with Vietnam" is an idea organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security and takes place simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities.

This event is to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2, Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025).

With the main message of “1 billion steps into the new era”, the program is meant to be a bridge connecting the central government to the local government, from urban to rural, mountainous, remote and isolated areas. Each locality contributes its strength to create a united, united Vietnam, moving towards the future.

In addition, the program also aims to encourage each citizen to develop the habit of walking, improving public health. At the same time, by encouraging walking and using green means of transport, the program also contributes to Vietnam's efforts to implement its Net Zero commitment by 2050, towards a sustainable future.

In Hung Yen, the Provincial Police coordinated with the Representative Office of Nhan Dan Newspaper in the province to develop a very specific and detailed Plan to ensure that 100% of communes and wards responded to and carried out the walking activity with the goal of "One hour - one billion steps - 200,000 participants".

The provincial-level activity was held on a large scale at Nguyen Van Linh Square (Pho Hien Ward, Hung Yen Province) attracting 5,000 participants, including officials, civil servants, armed forces, students, workers, laborers and a large number of people.

Nguyen Thi Huong, a student at Hung Yen Community College, shared: “I am very proud and happy to attend this special event. I woke up very early to be at the Square at 5:00 a.m. I maintain the habit of walking and jogging every day to improve my health.”

Ms. Luu Bich Thuy (75 years old), residing in Hong Chau ward, confided: “Through the mass media, we learned about the national walking activity “Moving forward with Vietnam”. We are really happy and want to participate because this is an event taking place on a national scale. Today, my husband and I both wore shirts printed with the red flag with a yellow star to clearly show our honor of being Vietnamese, and to love our homeland and country more, especially on the occasion of celebrating the nation’s major holidays”.

According to Nhan Dan newspaper, Hung Yen Provincial Police force is the core and largest force participating in the activity with more than 1,500 people including the collective leadership of the Provincial Police; leaders, officers and soldiers of department-level units; officers and soldiers of communes and wards in the area.

Responding to the national walking activity "Moving forward with Vietnam", on the morning of August 16, leaders of Hung Yen province joined thousands of people walking on a 2km route around Nguyen Van Linh Square.

On this occasion, the communes and wards in the province also organized a walking activity called “Moving Forward with Vietnam”. Through the synthesis, each commune and ward had from 300 to 500 participants.

Thanks to the good propaganda work, in which the Organizing Committee encouraged event participants to wear red flag and yellow star uniforms, the locations of the national walking activity "Moving Forward with Vietnam" in Hung Yen province were filled with the red and yellow colors of the sacred national flag, creating a heroic atmosphere, a spirit of solidarity and national strength.

On this occasion, Hung Yen Provincial Police launched and called on the community to make a commitment to reduce net waste to "0" by 2050 through various and vivid forms such as: Learning and raising awareness about green lifestyle; registering to carry out specific actions in daily life; donating to build environmental protection funds and developing renewable energy.
