Instructions for registering an account to receive social security money via VNeID

Pursuant to Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP dated January 9, 2024 (Resolution of the Government Conference with localities and the regular Government meeting in December 2023), the Government assigned the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Ministry of Home Affairs) to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies and relevant units to research and develop a plan to issue social security accounts to all people.

In Notice 56/TB-VPCP in 2025 of the Government Office , the Ministry of Public Security was assigned to preside over and coordinate with banks (Vietinbank, Vietcombank, BIDV, Agribank, MB Bank) to deploy solutions for people to create social security accounts, striving that by 2025, 100% of Vietnamese people will have social security accounts.

This account will be directly linked to the personal identification number on the VNeID application (from version 2.1.3 onwards). Such integration helps people quickly access subsidy policies, insurance support, health care and many other social services. When the social security account is deployed, people will receive subsidies and support from the state online, transparently and minimize cumbersome administrative procedures.

This policy is considered an important step in the digital transformation process, modernizing Vietnam's social security system. When put into practice, each citizen only needs to use an account with an identification to carry out most procedures related to insurance, subsidies or welfare programs, thereby saving time and costs for both people and management agencies.

On August 28, the VNeID application opened the feature to register for a social security account with the following steps:

Step 1: Open the VNeID app and log in to your account.

Step 2: At the main interface, users just need to click on Social Security - Social Security Account, authenticate again when requested.

Step 3: Enter your 6-digit password to access

Step 4: Select your bank account or mobile money account to receive subsidies from social security policies. Then continue to fill in the information of the bank account you have chosen. Fill in all personal information in each section and check the box below the information section "I have read the Purpose of sharing, processing data, Rights and obligations of data subjects and agree to share, process personal data" then select "Continue" to send the request for linking.

Step 5: The user fills in all the necessary information, including full name, date of birth, ID card number, bank account number. Then check the box “I have read the Purpose of Sharing”… at the bottom of the page and click “Continue”, follow the instructions until complete.

Step 6: After clicking continue, you will be redirected to the screen below with a notification that the request has been successfully submitted and is awaiting approval.
