According to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), information from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that currently, a number of countries in Southeast Asia and around the world are experiencing a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases of the Omicron strain XEC variant. This variant has been detected in the world since June 2024.
This strain is now present all over the world, classified by WHO as low risk, and mutations need to be monitored.
The Ministry of Health has also warned of the risk of spreading the Omicron strain XEC variant in Vietnam. It is forecasted that in the coming time, the number of COVID-19 cases in Hanoi may continue to increase related to the XEC variant.
Faced with the risk of the COVID-19 epidemic resurging, the Hanoi CDC recommends that people proactively implement epidemic prevention measures to protect the health of individuals, families and the community.
Specifically, people should follow 2K (Mask - Disinfection): Wear a mask when going to medical facilities, crowded places or on public transport; wash hands regularly with soap or antiseptic solution.
People should cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, do not spit indiscriminately; limit gathering in crowded places (if not necessary), limit contact with people showing signs of cough, fever, or suspected illness.
At the same time, increase exercise, physical training and proper nutrition to improve physical condition.
In particular, when experiencing symptoms of cough, fever, and difficulty breathing, people need to go to a medical facility for timely examination and consultation.
According to the Hanoi CDC, the Hanoi Health Department will continue to monitor the epidemic situation in the area and follow the instructions of the Ministry of Health to promptly issue appropriate recommendations to people to proactively prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic.
