These days, when traveling on the roads in the wards of Dong Kinh, Ky Lua, Tam Thanh, or Luong Van Tri, it's easy to notice the increasing number of electric vehicles, from electric bicycles and electric motorbikes to electric cars. These clean energy vehicles are becoming a popular choice in people's daily lives.
As he parked his electric car at the charging station, Mr. Pham Duc Canh, a resident of Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Luong Van Tri Ward, shared: "I chose an electric car because it suits my needs for commuting in the city. The car runs smoothly, without making noise or emitting any unpleasant odors. Most importantly, it doesn't emit CO₂, allowing me to contribute a small part to protecting the environment."
By the end of 2024, the province had nearly 42,500 registered and operating vehicles. Of these, electric vehicles accounted for approximately 17%. In addition, the province also recorded over 29,900 electric motorbikes in circulation. From the beginning of 2025 to the present, the trend of using green vehicles continues to increase, with 260 new electric cars and nearly 600 new electric motorbikes registered. |
At that same charging station, there were five other vehicles also charging. This sight is becoming increasingly common in urban areas.
The rise of electric vehicles is not only reflected in the number of vehicles on the road but also in the increasing demand for them among the population. Along with this, local businesses are also beginning to ramp up production and distribution of electric vehicles to meet this trend.
In Lang Son , DK Viet Nhat Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. is one of the pioneering companies in developing electric vehicles. Ms. Hoang Minh Hanh, Head of Sales Department of the company, said: Recently, the demand for electric vehicles has increased sharply. People are starting to pay more attention to energy-saving and convenient means of transportation in urban areas. The company currently distributes 15 models of electric motorbikes, suitable for many customer groups, especially students and urban residents who need to travel short distances. The company's average electric vehicle production is about 150 vehicles/day, increasing to 250 vehicles/day during peak season. To encourage people to use green vehicles, the company implements a separate demand stimulation program for customers in the province for each vehicle model.
According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Public Security, by the end of 2024, the province had nearly 42,500 registered and circulating automobiles.
Mr. Dinh Ky Giang, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Recently, the number of electric vehicles in the province has increased significantly. The increasing preference of people for electric vehicles brings many practical benefits, helping to reduce operating and maintenance costs for users. In particular, electric vehicles do not emit CO₂ during operation, thereby improving air quality and protecting the environment. In the coming time, the industry and trade sector will continue to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies in promoting policies to support and encourage businesses to invest in developing electric vehicle charging station infrastructure to meet the increasing demand, aiming for energy saving, emission reduction, and sustainable development.
Electric vehicles are being considered as a suitable option, contributing to the realization of the province's sustainable transportation development goals in the coming years. According to incomplete statistics, there are currently about 20 electric vehicle charging stations throughout the province. Currently, relevant departments and agencies are conducting surveys of the infrastructure to develop a plan for improvement, especially for the public charging station system, to help people feel more secure when using electric vehicles.
The shift to electric vehicles is not just a change in mode of transportation, but also represents a shift in mindset from immediate convenience to a sustainable choice for the future. Therefore, for this journey to be truly effective, coordination between the government, businesses, and the community is essential. Authorities need to continue investing in infrastructure and collaborate on developing safe battery disposal solutions; businesses need to expand their charging station networks; and citizens should proactively choose a green lifestyle and consume responsibly.
