Towards greater success with Japanese partners

Japanese enterprises have made important contributions to the socio -economic development of Bac Ninh province, serving as a bridge to promote the relationship between the locality and Japan to develop in all aspects.

50 YEAR MARK

Bac Ninh is an investment destination that Japanese enterprises have been interested in for a long time and still trust in choosing. On the contrary, Japan is one of the partners that Bac Ninh considers the most important, promoting cooperation in many fields such as investment attraction, aid, local cooperation...

Japanese enterprises are currently the third largest investment partner of Bac Ninh (after Korea and Singapore), with 101 projects, total capital of over 1.68 billion USD (accounting for nearly 7% of total investment capital in the province). Many leading Japanese names such as Canon, THK, NITTO, Foster, Sumitomo, Tenma, Fujikin... are all present in Bac Ninh. The highlight is that Japanese enterprises are all developing very strongly and successfully, considered as models of patience, determination, discipline, honesty and efficiency in investment.

Currently, in the first 6 months of 2023, 76 Japanese enterprises operating in Bac Ninh industrial parks have created 23,297 jobs for local workers, 32,852 billion VND in industrial production value, and paid 508 billion VND to the budget.

In particular, the important factor contributing to the success of Japanese enterprises in Vietnam is partly due to the special advantages of Bac Ninh - having a favorable geo-economic position, with 3 National Highways passing through and the distance gradually narrowing to important locations, 30 km from the center of Hanoi Capital, 30 km from Noi Bai International Airport and about 90 km from Hai Phong seaport.

Bac Ninh is proud to be one of the fastest growing localities in Vietnam with a safe, favorable and attractive business environment. In 2022, GRDP per capita will rank 3rd in the country; 2nd in export value; 4th in the country in attracting foreign investment.

The synchronous transportation system, electricity infrastructure, water supply, and developed communications ensure industrial production and daily life, meeting all the requirements of investors. Bac Ninh has an abundant and increasingly high-quality labor force, a safe and friendly living environment, increasingly meeting the needs of foreigners, especially the Japanese.

ACCOMPANYING THE FUTURE

Bac Ninh province identifies investment attraction as an important role, a key resource, spreading to promote businesses to accompany in the province's socio-economic development.

In the coming time, the province will continue to promote investment attraction for Japanese partners, associated with the orientation of knowledge economy, high-tech production, sustainable development on the basis of selecting projects according to the criteria of "2 less, 3 high": using less land, less labor, high investment capital, high technology content and high economic efficiency; encourage linkages between FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises, increase the localization rate in products, creating conditions for local industries to participate in the global value chain.

Based on the strengths of the partner, in the coming time, Bac Ninh wishes to cooperate and invest with Japan in a number of fields, specifically:

Regarding industry, focus on precision mechanics, automobiles, motorbikes, medical instrument manufacturing, pharmaceutical industry, cosmetics, electricity, electronics (household appliances), supporting industries... Special attention is paid to industries that are at the forefront of the 4.0 industrial revolution such as: ICT industry, digital technology, nanotechnology, biotechnology, new materials...

Bac Ninh also hopes to cooperate and share measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; change the structure of crop varieties; change land use methods, notably the model of growing hydroponic vegetables using Japanese technology and growing vegetables in greenhouses to reduce dependence on weather and climate conditions; high-tech application solutions in aquaculture, production of ornamental carp (Koi fish); technology to process and reuse by-products and waste in agricultural production and livestock; develop organic agriculture to increase carbon reserves, conserve soil...

Sharing experiences and cooperation on topics of climate change response: riverbank erosion, flood prevention in rivers; urban flooding. Supporting investment in infrastructure, warning equipment, forecasting, resilience to natural disasters and irrigation systems; strengthening cooperation activities to build value chain models, applying high technology, building brands associated with exporting agricultural products and products of the "One Commune, Ward, Town One Product" (OCOP) program to the Japanese market.

Regarding environmental issues, Bac Ninh prioritizes cooperation in implementing programs and projects on waste management and treatment, applying waste treatment technology to generate electricity; and supporting projects on water resource management and climate change response.

Bac Ninh hopes that large corporations as well as small and medium-sized enterprises of Japan will continue to invest in the province to create greater successes, not only for Japanese enterprises but also for Bac Ninh province in particular and Vietnam in general.
