ICANN APAC DNS Forum 2025: Connecting the Expert Community for an Inclusive Internet

Overview of the Workshop

With the theme "Inclusive Internet: Connecting People, Creating the Future", the workshop gathered many experts in the DNS field and representatives from large technology organizations and businesses around the world.

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong delivered the opening speech at the event.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong said that Vietnam is entering an era of comprehensive innovation and digital transformation, in which Internet infrastructure and especially the DNS system play a key role. Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on "Breakthrough in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation" aims to make Vietnam a developing country with modern industry and high middle income by 2030, and a developed country with high income by 2045.

To do this, an important content is to focus on developing digital infrastructure as a foundation for digital transformation. Internet infrastructure, including DNS infrastructure, is an important component of digital infrastructure. Managing to ensure the safety and reliability of the national DNS system, developing and popularizing the national domain name ".vn" to develop the digital economy and digital society is an important task.

The Internet will move to a new phase with the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), Quantum Internet with technologies such as 5G/6G, IPv6, big data , cloud computing , artificial intelligence ( AI ) , Block chain, Quantum computing ... with an extremely large number of connections. Many new forms of connection, new services are born, however, Internet resources, domain names, DNS systems are always the identification layer - the starting point of all digital connections, playing an essential role in ensuring the reliability and safety of digital space.

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong affirmed that Vietnam is ready to cooperate with the international community to develop an open, safe and inclusive Internet. Expanding multilingual DNS not only creates a comprehensive online environment but also ensures access to technology for everyone in the world .

In the context of new technologies constantly evolving, the APAC DNS Forum 2025 will discuss the goal of developing an inclusive Internet , by focusing on the diversity of languages ​​and scripts around the world. Providing diversity in character systems in the DNS system is considered an essential factor in making the Internet more accessible to hundreds of millions of users around the world.

The main contents of the Conference revolved around the application of domain name development solutions, especially national domain names, to help affirm the online presence of organizations and businesses in cyberspace, with creative development strategies and effective management policies, ensuring safety and reliability; developing and managing the safety and reliability of the DNS system - the heart of the Internet, applying technology (AI, blockchain) to ensure the safety of DNS operations and domain name space, protecting users in the network environment; developing multilingual domain names that allow the use of languages ​​and characters specific to each country, making the Internet more accessible to hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

The APAC DNS Forum 2025 conference with the regional and international expert community is expected to discuss and share new technologies and solutions to orient the development, management, and effective application of domain names and domain name servers. in the digital age, towards a safe, inclusive Internet, bringing Internet access opportunities to billions of new users in the future.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, Director of VNNIC, shared that the Workshop is not only a place to share technical expertise but also carries a strategic vision for international cooperation in Internet resource management.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of VNNIC's contribution to the development of the Internet in Vietnam . For more than a quarter of a century, VNNIC has built a secure Internet platform, promoted the use of DNSSEC, supported the transition to IPv6 and developed the national DNS system. Thanks to that, the ".vn" domain name currently ranks second in ASEAN with more than 660,000 domain names, and Vietnam is in the global top 10 in terms of IPv6 adoption rate, with more than 65% of users accessing the Internet via this protocol.../.
