According to Jakarta Globe, Indonesian Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan said that the country's import monitoring task force discovered a warehouse in North Jakarta suspected of containing illegally imported goods worth up to 2.5 million USD.
The items discovered in the warehouse were mainly clothing, handbags, phones, electronics, and children's toys. Initial preliminary information showed that the owner of the goods was a foreigner. The subject rented warehouses and workers, then packaged the goods to sell on online platforms.
Currently, the authorities are investigating, collecting more information, evidence and related subjects. According to the Indonesian Customs Law, illegal importers can be imprisoned for 1-10 years and fined 3,000-300,000 USD.
