Nvidia's competitors seem to be feeling uneasy about the company's resounding success in recent times, including Intel – which has expressed its intention to dethrone Nvidia from the start. A few months ago, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said the entire industry had united to fight Nvidia's market dominance through the CUDA ecosystem. At that time, Gelsinger noted that Nvidia's current reputation was merely a "moat" and that the company would be inconsistent in the future.

Now, Intel's Senior Vice President of Data Center and AI Group, Justin Hotard, has announced that the company has envisioned creating an "open ecosystem" that will allow them to support the entire AI market and hopefully eliminate the industry monopoly that Nvidia currently enjoys.
In a statement delivered at the first-ever Intel AI Seoul Summit 2024 held in South Korea, Justin said: "AI is the biggest change since the internet. Intel's strategy includes building an open ecosystem with everything from PCs to data centers. This allows other companies to use Intel Foundry for semiconductor manufacturing, enabling Intel to support the entire AI market."
Justin also reiterated the company's commitment to establishing close relationships with South Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, and affirmed that they will play a significant role in the future of the AI market. The company expressed great optimism about the future of the AI market, saying that this technology will shape the vision of all other companies to ensure that they are paying due attention to AI.
This seems to suggest that Intel may view South Korean companies as a business opportunity amid rival Nvidia's focus on Taiwan. This isn't because the companies are becoming regionally oriented, but rather because Intel has a tradition of favoring partnerships with South Korean companies like SK hynix – a partner that supplies HBM memory for the company's Gaudi accelerators.
