The booming sales of the iPhone 17 series in China are forcing Apple to reconsider its plans for launching the next generation.

According to Wccftech , multiple sources from the supply chain indicate that Apple may delay the iPhone 18 due to continued strong demand for the iPhone 17, especially the standard version.

According to a report from Weibo user "RD Observation" and widely cited by tech websites, the iPhone 17 series has achieved over 27 million activations in China in just about 14 weeks since its launch and is nearing the 30 million mark. This is considered one of Apple's most successful launches in the Chinese market in recent years.

Surprisingly, the standard iPhone 17 model became the main sales driver, rather than the more expensive Pro models. A report from Counterpoint shows that the standard version accounted for approximately 22% of total iPhone 17 sales, a significant increase compared to the previous generation. Sales of this model also increased by over 30% compared to the standard iPhone 16.

Analysts believe Apple has succeeded with its strategy of bringing many high-end features to its regular models while maintaining familiar starting prices. With iPhone 17 sales continuing to surge week after week, numerous sources indicate Apple is considering adjusting the iPhone 18 lineup roadmap. Some reports even suggest the regular iPhone 18 might be delayed until 2027 instead of launching as soon as originally planned.

If the leaks are accurate, this would be one of the few times Apple has significantly altered its iPhone release cycle, as sales of the current generation have far exceeded expectations.
