Reportedly, this issue mainly occurs after users update their iPhones to iOS 26.1 and iOS 26.2.
"This bug only occurs when the iPhone is turned off. I receive a message on Messenger from my computer a few minutes before the iPhone displays the notification," shared Thanh Thủy about the issue with her iPhone 17 Pro running iOS 26.2.

Manh Tuan's account also encountered a similar problem with his iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 26.1. Some notifications didn't even appear until the user turned on the phone screen.
According to Reddit, numerous users have also reported this issue. Notably, this problem has been reported on many different devices, from older models like the iPhone 13 Mini to the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max.
"Sometimes notifications arrive a few minutes late. In some cases, the phone doesn't even show notifications. This happens with messaging apps, social media, and other software. This is quite annoying because my job requires me to receive notifications immediately," a user of an iPhone 13 Mini complained.
"When I hold the phone in my hand, I receive notifications immediately. However, if the iPhone is locked, the notifications arrive about 10 seconds later. I'm having trouble with Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. I've also tried turning off Apple Intelligence and restarting the phone several times, but without success," a user with an iPhone 17 reported.

To date, Apple has not issued any official response to the issue, nor has it provided specific statistics on the number of affected users.
In mid-December, Apple released the iOS 26.2 update. According to the description, this version primarily fixes issues in the iOS 26 operating system, while also adding several feature changes to applications such as Apple Music, Podcasts, Games, etc.
Additionally, iOS 26.2 expands the Live Translation feature to include AirPods support in the European region. This update is compatible with all devices that previously supported the iOS 26 upgrade.
