In a market research report sent to investors, JPMorgan – one of the oldest financial services firms in the world – supported the increasingly credible rumors that Apple will launch a foldable display product next year.
If this is true, it's highly likely that the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup won't have many exciting upgrades.
This has led investors to shift their attention to Apple's products launching in 2026.
The first foldable iPhone is expected to cost $1,999 (approximately 52.8 million VND) and experts predict it could create a $65 billion market opportunity for Apple.
JPMorgan forecasts that sales of foldable iPhones will reach approximately 45 million units by 2028 and start at under 10 million units in 2027.
So far this year, sales of foldable smartphones have reached approximately 19 million units; therefore, the impact of this Apple product line on the market is expected to be significant.
The first rumored foldable iPhone will have a 7.8-inch screen that folds like a book and has virtually no creases on the display.
In addition, the external screen measures 5.5 inches, and the frame is made of titanium, just like the iPhone 16.
In particular, the durable hinge, along with advanced Liquid Metal heat dissipation technology, could allow foldable iPhones to eliminate Face ID and replace it with capacitive Touch ID.
