The accusation was posted on social media by IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee, after four female Israeli soldiers were released by Hamas earlier in the day. The four soldiers, Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy, and Liri Albag, were taken in by the IDF and placed under medical supervision.

AFP on the same day quoted a Palestinian source saying that Israel will release 200 Palestinian prisoners under a ceasefire agreement, in exchange for four hostages being held by the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip. Among the released prisoners are 120 people serving life sentences, along with many others serving long sentences.

According to Reuters , after being released, 70 of the 200 prisoners will be deported from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

On the same day, January 25, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he would not allow Palestinians to return to northern Gaza until Hamas resolved the issue of returning civilian hostages.
