CNN, citing Israeli sources, reported that the Israeli military is conducting a second airstrike on Iran.

All three major Israeli television channels reported on the second Israeli airstrike on Iran. Channel 12 , citing non-state reports in Iran, said the Israeli airstrikes were taking place east of Tehran and at a command facility of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Channel 12 also reported that Israel's first airstrike targeted missile and air defense production facilities.

An AFP reporter shared images of a series of explosions and streaks of light visible in the sky over central Tehran.

Reuters reported that four more explosions were heard east of Tehran and that "air defenses remain active" in the Iranian capital.

ABC News reports that the Israeli attack on Iran is still underway and is expected to last only one night. To date, there have been no reports of casualties or damage to Israeli fighter jets.

Yisrael Ziv, former Director of Operations of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), called the Israeli airstrikes "historic," emphasizing that the fact Israel only targeted military objectives "puts Iran in a dilemma" regarding its response.

Iran's civil aviation authority announced it would close its airspace until 9:00 AM on October 26th (12:30 PM Hanoi time). Data from the civil aviation tracking website FlightRadar24 showed that four civilian aircraft had already departed from Tehran when Israel began its attack.

The Iraqi Ministry of Transport suspended flights at all airports on the same day until further notice "due to tensions in the region".

The decision was made after weeks of deliberation.

Israeli officials said the decision to retaliate against Iran was made after weeks of discussions within the country's security cabinet about the nature and scope of such an attack.

Ultimately, Israel chose to attack only military targets. An Israeli official said these were targets that "posed a threat or could pose a threat."

Another Israeli official described the decision to attack as the result of “a very careful decision-making process.”

That process also included multiple rounds of consultations with U.S. officials, including a phone call between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Joe Biden.

Israeli officials have yet to release further details about the number and nature of the military targets, but the military is expected to release more information after the operation concludes.

Iran has not yet commented on the attack.
