On June 19, nearly 25 small and medium enterprises in the agricultural and forestry sector from many provinces in the Central region such as Hue, Quang Tri, Da Nang , Quang Nam attended and had an in-depth dialogue, sharing practical experiences in the production and consumption of typical products such as handicrafts, essential oils, herbs, coffee, etc. At the same time, the delegates analyzed the challenges when accessing export markets, especially the European market with strict requirements on standards and necessary certifications in the industry.
Enterprises have also agreed on a number of principles for long-term cooperation based on transparency and responsibility, promoting chain production linkages, accelerating the restoration of natural forest quality, turning advantages and potentials of land under forest canopy into opportunities to develop forestry in a sustainable, multi-value direction and maintain a stable source of income for local people.
The Landscape Restoration Fund (LRF) seeks and supports small and medium-sized enterprises to implement nature-based projects that create positive impacts on livelihoods, gender equality, biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration. The fund was founded by the South Pole Foundation and WWF, with the support of the Global Environment Facility and CHANEL as the main investor. With the initial positive results of the Netherlands Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) in the Central Truong Son in the past 3 years, the LRF Fund has chosen the Central Truong Son as the first landscape area in the world to implement its activities from July 2021. |
On June 20, the 2025 Multi-Stakeholder Forum took place with the participation of more than 70 delegates representing central ministries, branches, local authorities, financial and credit institutions, businesses, universities, research institutes, non -governmental organizations and local communities.
The forum’s main objective was to explore innovative financing mechanisms to sustainably conserve biodiversity and improve livelihoods in the context of increasingly limited public resources. Green financing mechanisms such as green credit, payments for forest environmental services, public-private partnerships (PPPs) and impact investment were introduced as potential solutions.
Delegates also shared pioneering models, showing that the connection between finance and conservation is completely feasible when there is consensus and multi-stakeholder cooperation. From there, they identified barriers in mobilizing finance for conservation, and proposed specific initiatives to expand cooperation opportunities, gradually mobilize sustainable financial resources for biodiversity conservation, and support businesses in turning the value of forest ecosystem services into sustainable livelihoods for communities living near forests.
Emphasizing the potential of natural solutions, experts said that this is an effective way to both reduce pressure on natural resources and expand positive impacts on both humans and ecosystems. The Central Truong Son – home to 134 species of mammals and more than 500 species of birds – is a biological treasure of Vietnam and the world, and is also home to thousands of households whose livelihoods depend largely on forest resources. Therefore, the Central Truong Son was selected by WWF as one of two strategic habitats in Vietnam, along with the Mekong Delta.
Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Tri province, Mr. Nguyen Truong Khoa, said: In the context of climate change, economic development pressure, and increasing conservation needs, the mobilization of sustainable financial resources is extremely urgent. The full participation of WWF, financial institutions, sponsors, businesses and professional agencies at the event is a clear demonstration of the concern and commitment to action for a harmonious future between humans and nature.
This will promote business cooperation, experience sharing and the development of effective management and environmental protection mechanisms for a sustainable network of non-timber forest product enterprises; while encouraging creative financial initiatives to conserve ecosystems and improve community livelihoods in the Central Truong Son - one of the most important biological corridors in Vietnam.
