Pursuant to Document No. 5600/VPCP-KGVX dated July 6, 2016 of the Government Office ; Pursuant to Decision No. 1127/QD-BTTTT dated July 10, 2017 of the Minister of Information and Communications on approving the National Book Award Project; Pursuant to Document No. 06/CV-BCĐTKNQ18 dated January 12, 2025 of the Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the Government on transferring the functions and tasks of the publishing sector to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee (Term XII) on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient, and Resolution No. 190/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly regulating the handling of a number of issues related to the reorganization of the state apparatus, the State management of publishing activities (including the management of the National Book Award) transferred to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has deployed the Plan to organize the 8th National Book Award in 2025.
The annual awarding of the National Book Awards aims to honor books, affirm the value of books in social life, and at the same time recognize, honor and encourage the creative process and dedication of authors and publishers. Thereby, contributing to improving the quality of publishing activities, developing the publishing career, meeting the requirements of building and developing the country, improving people's knowledge and developing cultural values and Vietnamese people.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will receive books nominated to participate in the Award, based on the dossiers of the units submitted for consideration of the 8th National Book Award, the Secretariat will synthesize, classify, and send them to the Preliminary Judging Council, including 04 specialized book subcommittees (Books on politics , economics, social sciences and humanities; Books on education, natural sciences and technology, innovation; Books on culture, literature and art; Books for teenagers and children) and the subcommittee of Books loved by readers).
The nomination subjects are implemented according to the provisions of Article 6 of the National Book Award Charter. The receiving unit is the Office of the Vietnam Publishing Association. The expected receiving time is August 2025.
After receiving the nominated books, the Preliminary Judging Council will score and vote on the nominated books according to the prescribed criteria, and propose to the Final Judging Council to score and vote. The estimated judging time is in the third - fourth quarter of 2025.
Based on the nomination results of the preliminary judging councils, the final judging councils score and vote to evaluate and nominate the number of awards and award levels, the National Book Award Council holds a secret ballot to consider and decide on the winning books and book series and submit them to the Minister for consideration and approval.
Regarding the decision to award the Prize, based on the voting results for the winning books, the Chairman of the National Book Award Council announced the results of the 8th National Book Award and requested the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to decide to award the prizes to the winning books and book series.
In addition to the awards in the 8th National Book Awards system, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded Certificates of Merit to organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing the publication of books with typical content (specifically: 02 Certificates of Merit for 02 book categories: Books promoting outstanding Vietnamese culture and tourism and Short, concise books; 03 Certificates of Merit to 03 journalists with outstanding achievements in communication activities, promoting reading, and promoting the development of reading culture).
The 8th National Book Awards ceremony is expected to be held in the fourth quarter of 2025 at (expected) the Hanoi Opera House or Hoan Kiem Lake Theatre.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requires that the organization of the 8th National Book Awards must ensure compliance with the procedures and regulations in the Charter and Regulations of the National Book Awards. The 8th National Book Awards ceremony was solemnly organized and widely communicated before, during and after the Awards Ceremony, creating a strong spread in the community.
