Connecting investment, business and trade development of Da Nang in Beijing (China)

DNO - On September 25, within the framework of a visit and work in Beijing (China), a delegation of Da Nang city led by Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Le Van Trung organized a number of foreign affairs activities, investment connection, and trade business development.

The seminar on Connecting Investment, Business and Trade Development in Da Nang in Beijing was attended by the Vietnamese Trade Counselor in China; representatives of major associations in China such as the China Harmony Business Association, the China Small and Medium Enterprise Development Promotion Center, the China Trade and Service Association, the International Investment Promotion Association, along with the participation of 30 typical enterprises of the associations.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Le Van Trung emphasized: “Beijing is the capital with the highest development index of China and is a place rich in cultural and historical traditions. We are committed to continuing to create favorable conditions for Chinese investors in general and Beijing city in particular to carry out investment and business activities in the city.”

Mr. Nong Duc Lai, Vietnam Trade Counselor in China, said that Da Nang city has many competitive advantages and favorable conditions to attract and implement investment, production, business, trade, cultural exchange and especially tourism development activities.

Mr. Lai also hopes that through the discussion, Chinese partners will gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam's potential and strengths, including the beautiful city of Da Nang, and explore opportunities to expand cooperation and trade between the two sides, bringing practical benefits to businesses and people of the two countries.

In addition, the opinions exchanged by Chinese associations and enterprises at the seminar will be an important basis for Da Nang to build mechanisms, policies, orientations, and plans for the city's development in the coming time. Da Nang City is focusing on improving the quality of foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction activities, especially for the Chinese market.

To date, there have been more than 1,020 FDI projects with an investment capital of over 4.3 billion USD. Of these, China has 93 projects with a total registered capital of nearly 118 million USD. Many projects have had a positive impact on the city's socio -economic development in recent times. Da Nang's export turnover of goods to China averages 135 million USD/year; import turnover of goods from China is estimated at 305 million/year.

After the discussion, the delegation went to work at the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing. Receiving and working with the delegation, Ambassador Ninh Thanh Cong said that Da Nang has had good relationships with some provinces and cities of China such as Shandong...

The delegation of Da Nang city visiting and working in China at the present time is very favorable in the conditions of the Vietnam-China relationship developing very well; therefore, Da Nang needs to take advantage of its advantages to develop the economy, call for investment and connect trade between Da Nang and provinces and cities of China.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing will support and create the most favorable conditions for Da Nang's activities in the Chinese market.

The delegation also proposed support for promoting cooperation programs, specifically, proposing   The Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing is requested to work with Chinese authorities and airlines and travel companies interested in reopening direct flights from Da Nang to several major cities in China, in order to facilitate increased cooperation in areas of interest to both sides, including tourism.

The National Assembly has just issued Resolution No. 136/2024/QH 15 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city, including the construction of a Free Trade Zone.

China is one of the countries that has successfully built many free trade zones. Therefore, it is recommended that the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing pay attention and introduce some successful models of China for Da Nang to study and learn from.

In addition, we propose to support the promotion of short-term scholarship programs, exchange of officials, learning from your experiences in management, urban planning, environment, tourism, etc.; promote cultural and sports exchanges; educational cooperation (scholarship programs, language training, short-term training in educational management, agriculture, technology, etc.); people-to-people exchanges.

On the same day, the delegation had a working session with the China Small and Medium Enterprise Development Promotion Center, thereby requesting support in promoting and transmitting information about the potential, projects, and policies to attract businesses and investors of Da Nang city to the association's members. The two sides also proposed to coordinate in organizing activities (conferences, seminars, exhibitions, etc.), and business delegations to learn about business opportunities in Da Nang.

Accordingly, the center invited the city to attend an event held on October 25 in Shandong organized by the China International Cooperation Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CICASME); at the same time, the center plans to organize a business delegation to visit Da Nang in the near future.
