US Election Results 2024: Donald Trump Wins!

At noon on November 6, Vietnam time, the results of the 2024 US presidential election were finalized with Republican candidate Donald Trump winning convincingly.

According to the preliminary vote count as of 2:40 p.m. updated by 270 to Win , Mr. Trump won 280 electoral votes, exceeding the minimum required - 270 votes by law, and thereby defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris to become the 47th president of the United States.

The decisive victory took place in the battleground state of Pennsylvania with 19 electoral votes. This is also Mr. Trump's second term as the owner of the White House, after the first term - the period 2016-2020.

On election day, November 5, Mr. Trump had an excellent performance with a series of resounding victories in all 7 decisive battleground states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

The Republican candidate won all 93 electoral votes in the above states. Immediately after the results were announced, Mr. Trump gave a celebratory speech to a large crowd of supporters in Palm Beach, Florida.

With this victory, Mr. Trump is not only the first US president to be impeached twice but also the first president to return to the White House after a hiatus since President Grover Cleveland in the 19th century.

Mr. Trump's return demonstrates his special political appeal among a large segment of voters, especially those who hold conservative views and support the "America First" policy he promotes.

The Wall Street Journal commented, "Mr. Trump's victory is a resounding victory for the ages."

The Electoral Colleges in the states are expected to meet on December 17 to cast their official electoral votes to elect Donald Trump as the next president of the United States. Mr. Trump will be sworn in at Capitol Hill on January 20, 2025.

Mr Trump's upcoming term will certainly face many major challenges. One of the main problems is the deep polarization in American society on important issues such as health care , gun control, climate change and immigration policy.

He will also face complex negotiations with Congress , where Democrats are likely to retain control of one or both chambers.

In foreign affairs, resetting international relations and ensuring national security will be among Mr. Trump’s top priorities.
