Investigation results into suspected leak of 10th grade English exam questions in Kon Tum

For the 12 students involved, the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee has not yet decided on a re-exam plan but is directing the Department of Education and Training to recalculate.

The report on the investigation, verification and handling of the leak of the English exam questions for grade 10 by the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to the Standing Committee of the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee showed that the teachers assigned to create the questions were careless in preserving the draft questions. The Question Committee was not strict in guiding the handling of the draft questions. Students took photos of the draft questions and sent them to their classmates in a private group.

The suspicion that the leaked exam questions were spread in private student groups after the English exam (general subject) was a draft of the exam questions, not the official exam questions. At the same time, the exam questions for the high school entrance exam are not on the list of state secrets in the field of education and training.

The investigation results of the provincial police up to 4:00 p.m. on June 12, 2023 determined that there were 12 students involved in the incident. Based on the investigation results of the provincial police and the analysis of the score distribution of the English exam (general subject) of the Department of Education and Training, it is determined that the leak of the draft exam questions occurred within a small scope and did not greatly affect the exam results.

Regarding the 10th grade enrollment plan for the 2023-2024 school year, the Party Committee of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee proposed to maintain the enrollment plan for candidates not related to the leaked exam draft.

Regarding the proposal of the Department of Education and Training to organize the second round of the English exam for 12 related candidates (expected in early August 2023) using a reserve exam, the Party Committee of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee has not agreed on this plan and will direct the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Department of Education and Training to recalculate appropriately.

The Party Committee of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Education and Training to review and clarify the responsibilities of relevant groups and individuals in the process of creating exam questions and revealing the draft English exam questions according to regulations, reporting the results to the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Home Affairs.
