Western tourists enjoy the hotel hanging the national flag in Hoi An

Quang Nam: A hotel specializing in foreign guests in Hoi An hung 80 national flags on the balconies to celebrate the April 30-May 1 holiday, surprising and delighting visitors.

On the occasion of April 30 - May 1, Son Hoi An Boutique Hotel & Spa, Dao Duy Tu Street, about 1 km from Hoi An city center, was painted yellow and white, most notably the red flags with yellow stars hanging on the balconies of the rooms.

The 6-storey hotel, with 54 rooms built in a rectangular shape, was put into use in August 2022. According to the hotel manager, the activity of hanging 80 large national flags on each balcony is to celebrate the country's reunification day.

Van Der Haar, a Dutch national who stayed at the hotel this time, said the way the flags were hung was very unique. "Before coming here, we knew it was a Vietnamese holiday, so staying here was a surprise because it was so beautiful," he said, adding that each room's balcony had a large, beautiful flag, and everything was very impressive. "We were warmly and enthusiastically welcomed. I really liked it and will come back to Vietnam," the Dutch tourist shared.

Mr. Luong Quy Nhan, manager of Son Hoi An Boutique Hotel & Spa, said that because many foreign guests often ask about major Vietnamese holidays, on the morning of April 28, the hotel staff hung the national flag on all balconies.

Many guests asked questions about the flags and were explained by staff about the meaning of April 30 and other major Vietnamese holidays. "This is the first time the hotel has hung flags in large numbers," said Mr. Nhan.

During this holiday, Son Hoi An Boutique Hotel & Spa has 80% of rooms booked, about 10% lower than last year. The guests are mainly foreigners.

The hotel will fly the flag until May 2. The hotel manager said that in recent days, many tourists coming to Hoi An knew that the hotel was flying the flag, so they checked in and shared it on social media. During the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the number of visitors to Hoi An was not large, some restaurant owners said that due to the hot weather, there were not many domestic tourists .

On the occasion of May 30-May 1, Hoi An city organizes street music exchange programs such as Melody of Time, Ancient Songs, and Traditional Instrument Concert to serve tourists.
