The tournament gathered 256 excellent players from 40 countries and territories around the world. Among them were many top names in the world such as the reigning champion Johann Chua (Philippines), Fedor Gorst (Russia), Francisco Sanchez Ruiz (Spain)... and the strongest players of Vietnamese billiards such as Duong Quoc Hoang, Dinh Chan Kiet.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bach Lien Huong emphasized: “The Hanoi Open Pool Championship is not only a place where top shots shine, but also a cultural bridge between countries, where sportsmanship, passion and positive energy are spread. Through the tournament, the capital city of Hanoi affirms its commitment to developing professional sports, while promoting the image of a dynamic, modern city, deeply integrated with international friends.”

Despite the obstacles caused by heavy rain and adverse weather on the first day of competition, the Organizing Committee proactively and flexibly adjusted the schedule, ensuring the progress and quality of the competition, demonstrating a high spirit of professionalism and responsibility.
Not only does the tournament have a professional meaning, it also has a humanitarian meaning. The Organizing Committee has allocated 100 million VND from ticket sales to support the people of the central region to overcome the consequences of floods, demonstrating concrete actions that contribute to spreading the spirit of "Sports for the community", bringing good values beyond the limits of the stadium.
On the first day of competition, there were many big surprises. Defending champion Johann Chua was eliminated early, officially becoming the former king. Other strong candidates such as Fedor Gorst and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz were also unexpectedly eliminated in the early rounds. These results reflect the fierce competition and unpredictability of this year's tournament.
The home team's number one hope, player Duong Quoc Hoang, had to say goodbye to the tournament in the round of 16 after an unfortunate loss to Roberto Gomez (Philippines).
However, Vietnamese billiards still left a strong impression with the impressive performance of young player Dinh Chan Kiet - who overcame many strong opponents to be in the Top 16 best players for the first time. This is an unprecedented achievement for a Vietnamese player at an international level, creating strong inspiration for domestic fans.

Besides the exciting matches, the stands at My Dinh Indoor Athletics Palace are always packed with spectators, creating a vibrant atmosphere of enthusiastic cheering, contributing to the overall success of the tournament.
Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2025 is not only an opportunity to affirm the rising position of Vietnamese billiards, but also a clear demonstration of the capacity to organize international-scale sporting events of the capital Hanoi. From operations, facilities, communications, to logistics services, the tournament is organized methodically and professionally.
The tournament will end on October 12 with a series of semi-finals and finals, promising to bring top-notch and dramatic competitions to find a worthy champion.
With the spirit of integration, the desire to rise and a solid organizational foundation, Hanoi Open Pool Championship is gradually positioning itself on the world billiards map, contributing to making Vietnam a prestigious destination for professional sports in the region and internationally. This is also a journey to demonstrate the bravery and new mindset of the Capital's sports on the path of innovation, development and comprehensive integration.
