Nhat Tan Communal House was formerly called Nhat Chieu Palace, but was changed to Nhat Tan during the reign of Khai Dinh.
The temple worships the Holy Uy Do Dai Vuong Tran Linh Lang (Uy Linh Lang), the son of Queen Minh Duc.
Uy Linh Lang is a famous intelligent person, both literary and martial, known far and wide.
During the reign of Tran Nhan Tong, the Yuan-Mongol invaders brought 400,000 troops led by General Toa Do to attack our country. Uy Linh Lang submitted a petition, asking his father to let him go fight the enemy and wrote a proclamation calling for help, which was enthusiastically responded by the people. Uy Linh Lang established an army called "Thien Tu Quan", attacked the Yuan army and won a great victory.
The enemy was defeated, the King appointed Uy Linh Lang as Dam Dam Dai Vuong (King of West Lake).
Uy Linh Lang died at noon on August 8, Canh Ty year (1300). The King mourned and ordered the construction of a temple at the place where Uy Linh Lang died for people to burn incense and worship him. It was called Nhat Chieu temple and he was given the title Hien Minh Duc.
To commemorate Uy Linh Lang's merits, the people of Nhat Tan village hold a ceremony on the 10th day of the second lunar month every year.
Previously, on the evening of March 6, the Party Committee, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nhat Tan Ward (Tay Ho District) received the Decision to recognize Nhat Tan Communal House Festival as a national intangible cultural heritage.
The festival's recognition as a national intangible cultural heritage not only honors the silent and persistent efforts of the community in preserving and promoting heritage values, but also promotes the responsibility of transmitting and practicing heritage in contemporary life, continuing to preserve the beauty of Vietnamese culture.
