As a tradition, from January 14 to 16 every year, people in Tam Vu town, Chau Thanh district and other localities in and outside the province eagerly await the Vegetarian Festival taking place at Tan Xuan Communal House (Tam Vu town).
This is one of the biggest festivals in Long An province, a place where elements and folk cultural beauty that are imbued with the community and village character of the people from the past to the present converge.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the Chau Thanh District People's Committee - Nguyen Thi Diem Quynh said that the Lam Chay Festival and Tan Xuan Communal House were recognized as an Intangible Cultural Festival and National Monument in 2014. This is an important cultural event, demonstrating the special attention and appreciation of our Party and State for the efforts and contributions of the Party Committee, government and people of Chau Thanh District in preserving and promoting traditional cultural and historical values, enhancing the appearance of the Southern region - one of the four thousand-year-old towns of Gia Dinh citadel.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Quynh, the Lam Chay Festival is a testament to the determination to inherit, continue the career and honor our ancestors; demonstrate the viewpoint of the Party and State in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; arouse the pride, patriotism, and heroic traditions of each citizen in the new era.
After the opening ceremony, the delegates went inside the Communal House to burn incense. Then they moved to visit the tomb and burn incense of Patriot Do Tuong Tu.
The Lam Chay Festival is a combination of religious, ethnic, folk beliefs and gratitude to heroes and martyrs, creating a festival space with worship rituals combining Buddhism, Taoism and folk beliefs.
With a history of over 100 years and becoming a traditional cultural feature of the land and people here, the Vegetarian Festival is held to pray for national peace and prosperity, and favorable weather./.
