The exhibition is an event to introduce applied art works - bearing the personal mark and "unique" thinking of the distinguished artisan Tran Nam Tuoc.

The exhibition "Nam Tuoc - Puzzle Pieces" displays 35 works by the distinguished artist Tran Nam Tuoc. The works are diverse in materials and by year of creation. The exhibition space is divided into 3 main parts, part 1: Displaying traditional sculptures and decorations made of ceramic and terracotta materials such as: angled knives, pliers, large-sized bronze lanterns.

These artifacts are suitable for contemporary cultural works, including: decorative ceramic tiles, reliefs, multi-colored enamel paintings with themes of folk tales and legends.

In addition, the faucet and ventilation doors introduced at the exhibition are elements that have been applied to the artist's works for 25 years, bearing the mark of Tran Nam Tuoc ceramics.

Part 2 introduces wood carvings, typically the stories: The Four Great Roosters (ò ó oo) ”, the 12-panel Trung Hieu Mon door set – this work helped artisan Tran Nam Tuoc win the 4th National Applied Fine Arts Prize in 2019.

The works in part 2 are in the style of punching and punching, combined with traditional blue or gilded decoration, with new and unique creativity expressed by the artisans.

Part 3 is a place to display hand-made drawings and design documents that have been applied by the excellent artisan Tran Nam Tuoc to many projects during his 25 years of working. For the first time, these drawings are introduced and shared with the public and friends to enjoy.

The works displayed at the exhibition are both highly applicable and still retain profound artistic value, blending contemporary breath and ancient culture, bearing the style of the excellent artisan Tran Nam Tuoc - the talented "all-round" potter of Bat Trang pottery village.

At the Exhibition, Tran Nam Tuoc plays the role of both an artist creating the work and a storyteller, conveying traditional cultural values through the language of contemporary art.

Besides, through the exhibition “Nam Tuoc - Puzzle Pieces”, the public will see another side of this multi-arts artist. In addition to his skillful talent, there is also his life experience, professional experience and his unceasing dedication to the pottery profession.

Born and raised in the rice fields, artisan Tran Nam Tuoc said that his entire childhood was spent diving into rivers, lakes and the salty sea, riding on the back of a buffalo, with a kite filled with wind, then wandering all over the country roads - soon falling in love with the land and fire of his homeland, through the handmade brick kilns.

It was not until 1997 that he learned about Bat Trang pottery, a type of pottery with glaze and many manufacturing styles to freely "struggle" with creativity to explore himself, experience life and be free with the earth.

“After 30 years of living and working through many professions, perhaps pottery will always be the teacher, and I will always be a poor student. Because earth and fire do not allow me to be careless with them. Because in the earth there are so many ancient and modern souls, sending here the blood and bones of the race.

Today, I work and pay tribute to the heroic heroes. Bat Trang pottery is a bridge for craftsmen like me to create and pass on the quintessence of our ancestors," artisan Tran Nam Tuoc shared.

The exhibition takes place from August 2 to 12 at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts. Previously, he had success with two exhibitions "Spiritual Animals of Today" (held on August 10, 2023) and "Baron - Soul of the Land" (held on October 25, 2024).
