Opening of the "Project Incubator" of the Danang Asian Film Festival

Producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc presented flowers and talked with the program's experts.

The program includes training and connection activities, developing film projects for young and promising talents in the field of cinema with the theme "Nurturing talent" in acting, "Project incubator" for filmmakers.

The “Project Incubator” program has the participation of lecturers who are experts from many major film industries in the world , such as two French producers Isabelle Glachant and Leonard Haddad, and Korean producer Kim Young Min.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the “Project Incubator” Program, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Association for Promotion and Development of Cinema, Director of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival, said that DANAFF Talents is something the Festival Organizing Committee has been thinking about for a long time, but had to wait until they had enough strength to be able to implement it.

“DANAFF Talents has almost taken shape with many valuable dishes such as: Talent Incubation Workshop, Project Incubator (Project Market) and Masterclass. We will also have a workshop to discover and develop talents, share and learn from international experiences in developing film talents”, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan shared.

Producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc - Director of Workshop and Project Incubator said: “The Project Incubator program will be an opportunity for young filmmakers to learn, exchange and be supported by prestigious and experienced mentors. I hope that the connection and collaboration will be the driving force to take the project further. We will have 4 days with many activities and I really look forward to the great results of the Project Incubator”.

Producer Kim Young Min, the program's lecturer, said that before coming to the program, he spent a lot of time reading the entries of the project participants and wished to have the opportunity to realize a project like this in Korea.

“Through the programs of the "Project Incubator", we will have the opportunity to exchange more, have more stories. And at the end of the program, we will have an award ceremony for outstanding projects. Even if you don't win, don't be sad because the experiences at the "Project Incubator" are always valuable. I hope to contribute a small part to help your projects improve" - producer Kim Young Min said.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, French producer Isabelle Glachant said that experts and young filmmakers attend the program to share and learn from each other in projects.

She is looking forward to the project discussions and presentations and hopes that the Project Incubator will bring many valuable experiences to everyone.

The organizers said that although it was the first time it was implemented, the “Project Incubator” had received a lot of attention from domestic and international filmmakers, showing the increasingly clear professional appeal of DANAFF in its role of connecting and accompanying cinematic creation. The organizers selected 14 potential projects to participate in the development round.

The best project in the Asian art film category will receive an award worth 8,000 Euros from CNC - the French National Cinema Center, along with 3 months of intensive development support from Mylab - a mentoring and incubation program for independent film projects in Southeast Asia.

In addition, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA) also awarded a prize worth 5,000 USD to the best project in the category of Vietnamese film projects of all genres.
