The ancient Hau Lau relic site, also known as Tinh Bac Lau, was built after the Later Le Dynasty and was the residence and living place of the queen and princess. During the Nguyen Dynasty, Hau Lau was the residence of the concubines and beauties who followed the king on his "official trips" to the North.

Thang Long Imperial Citadel in particular and Thang Long Citadel in general is a large, rich and complex relic site. Identifying the architecture of the Imperial Citadel cannot be done overnight but must be long-term, meticulous and step by step.
