Helsinki is the capital of Finland and one of the most vibrant cities in the Nordic country. The city's rich culture and history are what attract tourists to visit, clearly shown through its impressive architectural works.
When visiting the capital Helsinki, almost every tourist will spend time visiting the Temppeliaukio Church. This is a prominent religious building in the city center, built by the architect brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen from 1930, completed in 1969 after nearly 40 years of delay due to the impact of World War II. The charm of the church comes from being built inside a large granite block, so this place is also known as the "Rock Church".
The architects used dynamite to blast inside the granite block to create a giant void. Then they created an exit, built stairs and continued to complete the interior items. Although hidden inside the rock, natural light still permeates every corner inside thanks to the smart design of the dome. The surrounding "walls" are completely made of stone, and the architects even kept the original rough state. Thanks to the stone wall, the sound in the church has an impressive echo.

In the Temppeliaukio church, there are printed blessings in many different languages, including Vietnamese.
Uspenski Cathedral (or Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption) is also a must-see destination in the capital Helsinki. This is a spiritual religious building of the Eastern Orthodox Church (a branch of Christianity, the second largest in the world , after the Roman Catholic Church), impressing visitors from all over with its bright red walls and striking green roof. This building is now 156 years old, but its classic beauty is still enough to stir people's hearts.
The cathedral, located on a hill on the Katajanokka peninsula, is a Russian Byzantine architectural style designed by Russian architect Andreassey Gornostayev. However, the architect who completed the project was another architect, named Ivan Varnek. The cathedral opened in 1868, built from 700,000 bricks from the Bomarsund fortress.

Another must-see attraction is the Oodi National Library of Finland, located in the heart of Helsinki, the oldest and largest library in Finland. The library is currently managed by the University of Helsinki and is the most important research library in this Nordic country. Because the library is not only a place to store books, but also plays an important role in standardizing information, helping people in Helsinki in particular and Finland in general to access many official information sources conveniently.
The most attractive feature of the Finnish National Library Oodi is its modern and captivating architecture. This is a real “paradise” for book lovers, the library covers an area of 17,250 m2, however, books only fill one-third of the massive building. The library also has a recording studio, a research area, a cinema, a restaurant, a cafe and a public balcony. In this way, the library becomes a comprehensive cultural center, not simply a place to borrow books.
In addition, there are many other unique features around Helsinki. You can choose any coffee shop, sip coffee in the cold of the Nordic country, and enjoy the peaceful life of Helsinki passing by in the rich aroma of brewed brown drops.
This journey to explore the capital Helsinki of Finland organized by BenThanh Tourist brought me many interesting and new experiences.
