The sugarcane chicken farm of Huong Son Energy and Agriculture Company (Ha Tinh) has been invested with more than 3 billion VND, contributing to increasing income and promoting local economic development.
After 4 months of raising, the rooster will reach a weight of 2.7kg/chicken and will be purchased by the partner at a price of 6,200 VND/kg.
The sugarcane chicken farm of Huong Son Energy and Agriculture Company, located in Hoa Tien village, Son Tien commune, has an area of nearly 5 hectares.
According to Mr. Vo Duong Oai - Deputy Director of Huong Son Energy and Agriculture Company, in 2020 the company invested more than 3 billion VND to build a system of sugarcane chicken farms in the direction of biosafety and high technology, with 8 closed farms. This is the largest sugarcane chicken farm in Huong Son district at present.
The hens after more than 2 months of raising are growing and developing well.
However, from 2020 to 2022, due to lack of experience in livestock farming and the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company suffered heavy losses.
Learning from the failure after the initial "off-beat" step, in early 2023, the company decided to switch to livestock farming in association with Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd. ( Vinh Phuc ). After signing the contract, Japfa Comfeed Vietnam invested in breeding animals, feed, provided technical guidance and purchased products.
Raising chickens in a bio-secure manner requires the barn to have a chemical misting system to prevent and limit the spread of disease; the barn floor must be high and dry; and the temperature in the barn must be kept stable at 27-30 degrees Celsius thanks to an electric heating system and air conditioning.
Workers clean the barns to prepare for the next batch of animals.
According to the leader of Huong Son Energy and Agriculture Company, in the process of raising chickens, to have high profits, daily care and feeding are extremely important. Farmers must balance the amount of food to be moderate, enough for the chickens to grow. After feeding, the entire electrical system must be turned off for the chickens to sleep, limiting activities that consume a lot of energy, so that the raised animals can grow quickly.
In addition, the company also invested in automatic feeders to easily control and adjust the amount of food and water suitable for the chicken flock. At the same time, it regularly vaccinates all types of vaccines to prevent diseases.
In particular, the livestock area is strictly controlled, restricting people from entering and exiting; strictly implementing regulations on cleaning barns, spraying disinfectants once a week, deodorizing with probiotics, especially at the time of selling and importing new batches.
Since the beginning of the year, the company has been raising chickens in 8 coops, each coop has 12,000 chickens (in a rolling manner to ensure hygiene and safety, and the chickens gain weight according to the partners' requirements).
In May 2023, the company's flock of 96,000 chickens was shipped, meeting the partner's requirements (chicken weight reached 2.7 kg (rooster) and 2.1 kg (hen). Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd. purchased the chickens at a price of 6,200 VND/kg (Japfa Comfeed invested in breeding stock, feed, and technical guidance). After deducting expenses for the first batch, the company earned a profit of over 400 million VND.
Besides, the company's farm is currently providing jobs for 7 workers, with monthly salary from 6 - 8 million VND/person.
Chicken manure is collected and prepared for transport to fruit farms.
According to Mr. Phan Xuan Long - Chairman of Son Tien Commune People's Committee, the presence of Huong Son Energy and Agriculture Company not only creates a highlight to promote economic development, create more stable jobs for local children but also contributes to raising the average income for people in Son Tien commune to 45 million VND (in 2022).
Linking with businesses is an inevitable trend in the livestock restructuring program of Huong Son district. The initial results of Huong Son Energy and Agriculture Company open up a direction for safe, effective and sustainable livestock farming for local people.
The biosafety and high-tech livestock farming model not only helps improve product quality but also provides stable income, ensures environmental hygiene, and prevents diseases well.
