According to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 23 of the Law on Health Insurance, the cost of periodic health check-ups is one of the cases not covered by health insurance.
Article 21 of the Law on Health Insurance stipulates that health insurance participants are covered by the Health Insurance Fund for medical examination, treatment, and rehabilitation costs in case of illness, and for regular pregnancy check-ups and childbirth.
In addition to health check-ups, there are 11 other cases that are not covered by health insurance even though they go to the right medical facility for examination and treatment, including:
- Expenses in the case of medical examination for screening and early diagnosis of certain diseases; medical examination, treatment, rehabilitation, periodic pregnancy check-ups, childbirth; transportation of patients from district level to higher level... that have been paid by the state budget (in Clause 1, Article 21 of the Law on Health Insurance).
- Nursing, convalescence at nursing facilities, convalescence.
- Pregnancy testing and diagnosis are not for treatment purposes.
- Use of assisted reproductive techniques, family planning services, abortion, except in cases where pregnancy must be terminated due to pathological causes of the fetus or the mother.
- Treatment of strabismus, myopia and refractive errors of the eye, except for children under 6 years old.
- Medical examination, treatment, rehabilitation in case of disaster.
- Use of cosmetic services.
- Use of replacement medical supplies including artificial limbs, artificial eyes, dentures, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and mobility aids in medical examination, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Examination and treatment of drug addiction, alcoholism or other addictive substances.
- Medical examination, forensic examination, forensic psychiatric examination.
- Participate in clinical trials and scientific research.
