Korean media reported that JTBC's upcoming drama "Family by Choice" has completed filming, is in post-production, and is expected to air this fall.
“Family by Choice” is a remake of the hit Chinese drama “In the Name of Family”.
The film tells the story of three young people who are not related by blood but spent their childhood together as a family. They reunite after 10 years apart and also lead to changes in their relationship.
Hwang In Yeop will play the handsome Kim San Ha, who seems to lack nothing. After growing up with his younger sister Yoon Joo Won (Jung Chae Yeon) and younger brother Kang Hae Joon (Bae Hyun Sung) as siblings, Kim San Ha leaves them only to return to them 10 years later.
Choi Won Young will play Yoon Joo Won's father Yoon Jung Jae, while Choi Moo Sung will play Kim San Ha's father Kim Dae Wook. The two characters, who raise their children together, will show perfect harmony, reminiscent of a couple who have been married for 10 years.
The combination of young actors with fresh energy and experienced veterans is expected to help the film shine.
In the original Chinese version, the three brothers of Hwang In Yeop, Bae Hyun Sung and Jung Chae Yeon are played by actors Song Wei Long, Zhang Xin Cheng and Tan Song Yun respectively.
Although "In the Name of Family" caused a fever throughout Asia and became one of the most beloved Chinese family dramas, the development of the eldest brother Ling Xiao (Song Wei Long) into love with his non-blood-related younger sister Li Tiem Tiem (Tan Song Yun) also received many mixed reactions.
Therefore, many opinions hope that the Korean remake version can edit the script so that the characters focus on family affection.
