Due to the impact of storm No. 10 and high tides, the coastline of Phu Thuan beach (Thuan An ward, Hue city) has been eroded for more than 300m in recent days, about 70m deep into the shore, washing away many traffic infrastructure items and threatening National Highway 49B. Currently, this area is at risk of forming a new estuary, threatening the lives of hundreds of local households.

Mr. Le Dinh Phong, Chairman of Thuan An Ward People's Committee, said that Phu Thuan beach area was broken and a new sea gate was formed during the historic flood in 1999, then it was repaired and stabilized since 2021. Currently, the distance from the sea edge to the shore of Tam Giang lagoon is only about 250m, so the risk of reopening the sea gate is very high if storms and big floods continue to occur.

In early October 2025, the People's Committee of Hue City declared a natural disaster emergency to mobilize resources to reinforce and prevent landslides at Thuan An beach, limiting damage in upcoming storms.

Implementing the direction of the People's Committee of Hue City, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City has assigned the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works of Hue City as the investor, coordinating with the Hue City Irrigation Construction Company to deploy construction and urgently handle the situation of landslides on Thuan An beach.

Mr. Truong Van Giang, Director of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works of Hue City, said that the soft embankment project to prevent landslides is 450m long. This project will help prevent landslides and protect the coastal promenade. Currently, the construction unit is mobilizing maximum human resources and machinery to speed up the progress. If the weather is favorable, the project will be completed in about 10 days.
Along with local resources, the Hue City People's Committee has sent a document requesting central ministries and branches to support funding to urgently handle the 1km long coastal landslide section through Thuan An ward and the 1km long section through Vinh Loc commune, with a total cost of about 400 billion VND.
