Khanh Hoa aims to become a model green destination in the region.

On the afternoon of September 11, in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh attended the workshop “Khanh Hoa: Towards a model green destination in the region”. The event was organized by the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee in coordination with Tuoi Tre newspaper and related units.

The workshop is an event within the framework of the Green Vietnam 2025 Project, initiated by Tuoi Tre Newspaper and the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance. The workshop is organized to create a forum for exchange and discussion between management agencies, experts, businesses and the community, thereby sharing experiences, solutions, and green tourism development models; identifying orientations, tasks and key solutions to turn Khanh Hoa into a comprehensive green destination, associated with sustainable development and adaptation to climate change; raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, businesses and people in environmental protection, natural resource conservation, promoting cultural and social values ​​in tourism development...

Applying digital transformation and developing renewable energy in building green destinations

Speaking at the workshop, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said, Khanh Hoa is the province with the longest coastline in Vietnam, with a famous bay system. The coastal line is not only a natural advantage but also a resource for economic development, including tourism. With a strategic location accessible by many means, Khanh Hoa has become an attractive destination for international and domestic tourists.

To develop Khanh Hoa into a comprehensive green destination, the Director suggested that the province needs to have a specific plan for green tourism development, including a roadmap to increase the rate of renewable energy use, control emissions, proactively respond to natural disasters and marine environmental incidents; diversify tourism products, develop tourism associated with nature, culture and production life. In addition, to make a green transformation, it is impossible not to mention the development of renewable energy, promote digital transformation, and train sustainable human resources...

“The application of digital transformation is extremely important in building green destinations and promoting green infrastructure development. In addition, digital technology helps to market green tourism. I hope Khanh Hoa becomes a green destination positioned on the world green tourism map with the set goals,” the Director emphasized.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper Tran Xuan Toan said that Khanh Hoa is facing a great opportunity, with one of the world's most beautiful coastlines and very special coastal forests, while emphasizing the pillars for developing a green city and a green destination: "We need to see green development as having green infrastructure, green energy, green finance and green human resources in addition to green living."

According to Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Long Bien, after the merger, Khanh Hoa province has become a land with rare advantages such as long coastline, rich marine and island ecosystems, many famous bays and beaches along with diverse mountain, desert and ecosystem landscapes. In addition, Khanh Hoa also possesses a treasure trove of unique cultural and historical heritage, from Champa culture to traditional works and festivals with rich identity.

This is the foundation for developing green tourism, green urban areas, green transportation, green energy and green community life, creating the driving force to turn Khanh Hoa into a center of sustainable development in the new period.

According to Mr. Bien, in recent times, Khanh Hoa tourism has had a strong recovery and growth. At the same time, the province has also promoted many green transformation programs, from urban development towards ecology, smartness, and energy saving. “Sustainable green development is not limited to tourism but must spread to all areas, from urban planning, environmental management, transport infrastructure development, energy, technology to community education. That is the inevitable path to improve competitiveness, create sustainable values ​​and ensure long-term livelihoods for future generations,” Mr. Nguyen Long Bien emphasized.

Within the framework of the Workshop, speakers heard opinions shared focusing on potential, policies and international experiences to help Khanh Hoa become a leading green destination in the region and the world.

In addition to the presentations, the workshop had two open discussion sessions and roundtable discussions on the topic: Advice for Khanh Hoa Tourism to develop green and sustainably, focusing on the contents of the Green Tourism Standards for locations and accommodation facilities, aiming for 80% to achieve the green label by 2030...

On the sidelines of the workshop “To make Khanh Hoa a comprehensive green destination of the world”, Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance and the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province organized an exhibition and display of “Green Experience Day in Khanh Hoa” in the park area in front of Muong Thanh Luxury Khanh Hoa Hotel.

In the program, businesses in Khanh Hoa and neighboring localities introduced to the public green, environmentally friendly production, business, service and product activities such as electric vehicles, bird's nests, clean agricultural products (hydroponic vegetables, coffee, seaweed, dried mango from Cam Lam, etc.), attracting many people and tourists to visit and experience. In particular, the program also included the activity of exchanging waste for succulent plants. Many people brought plastic bottles, old batteries, metal cans, cardboard, and milk cartons to exchange for gifts.
