Inauguration of the Key Secondary School

On the morning of August 19th, amidst the vibrant and joyful atmosphere of the historic month of August, Quang Ninh province solemnly held the inauguration ceremony and plaque unveiling for Trong Diem Secondary School (Ha Long ward), a school with a rich tradition of academic excellence and a leading position in the province's teaching and learning quality. Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training; Ms. Vi Ngoc Bich, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Vu Van Dien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives from various departments, agencies, and localities; and the teachers and students of Trong Diem Secondary School.

The Trọng Điểm Secondary School, built on the site of the Provincial Ethnic Boarding School, has been officially completed after more than a year of construction. With a total investment of nearly 160 billion VND, the school covers an area of ​​1.5 hectares and has 45 classrooms, meeting the learning needs of 2,000 students.

The main components of the project include: a five-story administrative building, two four-story school buildings, a multi-purpose building with a basement, and a modern library renovated from the old practice building. The project is not only an architectural highlight but also fully meets the criteria of a high-quality school, effectively serving the learning needs of students throughout the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Vi Ngoc Bich, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, affirmed: Education and training have always been a top national priority. In line with this spirit, over the years, Quang Ninh province has identified education as a strategic priority in all its development decisions.

The province has focused its leadership, guidance, and resource mobilization on building a comprehensive and modern education system, linked to digital transformation. The goal is to train high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable development, realizing the objective of making Quang Ninh a modern service-industrial province, an international tourism center, and a dynamic growth pole in the northern region.

In particular, Resolution No. 99/NQ-HĐND dated May 31, 2022, adopted by the Provincial People's Council, allocated nearly 2,000 billion VND to support localities in building and upgrading facilities and equipment for public schools, with the goal of achieving a national standard rate of 92.07% of schools in the province by 2025 (an increase of 2.07% compared to the target set in the Resolution).

Bringing the Key Secondary School building into use before the start of the 2025-2026 school year not only meets the needs of teaching and learning but also affirms the province's strategic vision in educational development, creating a solid foundation for high-quality human resources in the future.

To ensure the project is managed, utilized, and maintained effectively, maximizing its investment value, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested the investor and relevant departments and agencies to urgently coordinate to complete the handover and management of assets formed from the project; and to implement the project's final settlement procedures within the prescribed timeframe.

The Board of Directors of Trong Diem Secondary School needs to uphold traditions, build a comprehensive, orderly, and modern educational environment; effectively utilize newly invested facilities, linking teaching and learning with the requirements of educational reform and the orientation of developing high-quality human resources for the province; and at the same time strengthen responsibility in managing, preserving, and protecting the facilities, so that this place truly becomes a model educational institution, a source of pride for Ha Long ward and Quang Ninh province.

At the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, on behalf of the leadership of the education sector, extended his best wishes to the teachers and students of Trong Diem Secondary School. The investment in building a new Trong Diem Secondary School clearly demonstrates the determination of the entire political system of Quang Ninh province in caring for the cause of education. The Minister also hoped that Quang Ninh province would continue to pay attention to and invest in education to have even more spacious and modern schools.

The comrade emphasized that currently, the education sector focuses on the holistic development of human beings as its central goal. Therefore, education in Quang Ninh province in general, and Trong Diem Secondary School in particular, needs to aim at nurturing and creating citizens with cultural awareness, social responsibility, and the ability to live happily for themselves and the community.

Trong Diem Secondary School, formerly known as Hong Gai Town Specialized High School, was established in 1993 and adopted its current name in 1996. Over 31 years of development and growth, the school has consistently maintained its tradition of top-quality education, becoming a shining example in the "Good Teaching - Good Learning" movement. With numerous outstanding achievements, the school has been recognized as meeting national standards and has been honored with the Third, Second, and especially First Class Labor Orders awarded by the President of Vietnam for the 2024-2025 academic year.
