Khe Buong: Skillful mass mobilization, high consensus

Khe Buong village, Thai Binh commune is about 25 km from the commune center. The village has 32 households with 168 people who are Dao ethnic people. With the advantage of forestry land area, in recent years, Khe Buong village Party Cell has actively promoted economic development from forest planting.

Mr. Trieu Dai Duc, Party cell secretary and head of Khe Buong village, said: Over the years, the village Party cell has always paid attention to and guided party members to boldly invest in development. At the same time, the Party cell has focused on leading and directing the Village Front Committee to coordinate with village mass organizations to propagate to people to plant forests for economic development; mobilize people to participate in training courses on techniques of planting and caring for forestry trees; and participate in vocational training classes organized by the commune government in coordination with specialized agencies.

According to statistics, the whole village currently has over 200 hectares of pine and acacia forests. All households in the village have developed forests with an average area of 5 to 6 hectares/household. From 2023 to now, on average, each year, villagers have exploited nearly 80 tons of pine resin and 15,000 m3 of planted forest wood, bringing in an economic value of more than 4 billion VND.

Mr. Duong Kim Chi, a villager, said: As a party member, I have always been determined to be a pioneer. Since 2015, my family has boldly developed afforestation. Up to now, my family has over 11 hectares of pine and acacia. On average, each year, my family earns from 60 to 80 million VND from exploiting pine resin and acacia wood.

Not only mobilizing people to develop the economy, the village Party Cell has actively propagated to people to understand the purpose, meaning and role of the village in building the new rural area. Specifically, in 2022, the Party Cell and the Village Front Committee mobilized people to contribute more than 100 million VND and over 70 working days to build a cultural house with an area of over 100 m2 and a simple sports field with an area of over 250 m2. Up to now, the works have been completed and put into use, serving the cultural and artistic exchange activities of the people in the village.

In particular, in 2023, the State will support funding to expand and concrete the inter-village road Khe Buong (Thai Binh commune) - Ban Xum (Chau Son commune). The Party Cell and the Village Front Work Committee organized meetings to inform the people; analyzed, propagated, and explained so that households with affected land agreed to donate land for road construction. As a result, 15 households with affected land agreed to donate over 2 hectares of garden and forest land to concrete the road over 3 km long. In 2024, the road will be completed and put into use, making it more convenient and easier for people in the village to travel and transport agricultural products.

Mr. Trieu Dai Huong, a villager, said: When the village informed me that my family's land was affected by the project to expand the inter-village road, I initially had some concerns and questions. Thanks to the propaganda and explanation from the Village Front Committee, I clearly understood the State's policy. Therefore, I donated over 3,000 square meters of my family's land where I was growing acacia. The road was expanded, making it easier for people to travel and exchange goods.

Mr. Dang Dinh Duc, Chairman of Thai Binh Commune People's Committee, said: Khe Buong is a particularly difficult village in Thai Binh Commune. In recent times, the village has been very active and proactive in orienting, propagating, and mobilizing people to develop the economy and join hands in implementing the new rural criteria. In particular, the Party Cell and the Village Front Committee have done a very good job of mobilizing people to donate land to build rural roads, thereby creating favorable conditions and promoting economic development in the area.

Thanks to the efforts of the people, the village's appearance is now increasingly improving, the traffic infrastructure and facilities are being improved, and people's lives have changed significantly. In September 2025, Khe Buong village received a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Skilled mass mobilization" for the period 2021-2025.
