Accordingly, the young girl named LNP, in Ca Mau, is still being treated and monitored at Binh Duong General Hospital (HCMC), in stable health condition.

It is expected that if nothing changes, the patient will be considered for discharge, regular check-ups, waiting for the day of surgery to reattach the severed hand to the arm and give birth.

Previously, according to the treatment team, in addition to temporarily grafting the severed hand onto the leg, the female patient also had her crushed arm temporarily grafted onto her abdomen. This technique is colloquially called “pocketing”, in order to maintain the length of the arm, because the patient’s skin tissue and part of the muscle and tendon tissue were crushed after the accident.

Initially, doctors planned that after 3-4 weeks of performing the "pocket" technique, the arm with the stump would be removed from the abdomen.

At this time, the forearm skin sutured to the abdominal skin has formed a natural circulation, so the doctor can take more abdominal skin to supplement the missing skin, to better prepare for the subsequent limb reattachment surgery.

However, after Binh Duong General Hospital worked with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health and leading experts in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Orthopedics, the treatment team agreed that the patient would have one surgery to handle all conditions during childbirth.

The surgeries will be performed by Binh Duong General Hospital. If necessary, Tu Du Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital will provide support.

As Dan Tri reported, while working, a girl named LNP had an accident at work that severed her right hand. The patient received first aid at a medical facility in Thuan An Ward (HCMC), then was rushed to Binh Duong General Hospital the same afternoon.

Here, the female patient was recorded to be 23 weeks pregnant with twins, with a severed limb. In response to the girl's wish to keep her hand to take care of her future children, the doctors boldly performed a temporary surgery to graft the severed limb onto her leg. The surgery lasted 3 hours.

Currently, the mother and her two unborn children are safe, and the temporary hand grafted to the leg is stable. It is expected that when the fetus is big enough, doctors will consider reattaching the patient's hand.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health highly appreciates the professional capacity of Binh Duong General Hospital in handling urgent and complicated cases.

Choosing the above special microsurgical method is considered a breakthrough solution, not only saving the patient's limbs and ensuring the safety of the twins, but also demonstrating the sense of responsibility, close coordination and dedication of the medical team.
