On September 23, Dr. Le Ngoc Long, Director of Binh Duong General Hospital (HCMC) informed Dan Tri reporter that recently, doctors here received emergency treatment and treated a case of tragic accident.
The patient is a girl named LNP (nearly 20 years old). According to initial information, while working at the factory, the patient had an accident with machinery, causing the lower third of her forearm to be crushed and her right hand to be severed.

The patient received first aid at a medical facility in Thuan An Ward (HCMC), then was rushed to Binh Duong General Hospital the same afternoon. Here, the female patient was noted to be not in shock, 23 weeks pregnant with twins, and had a severed limb.
Patients are consulted internally and inter-hospital with the departments of Emergency Resuscitation, Obstetrics, Surgery - Anesthesia, Hematology, and Orthopedics to plan surgery.
"A girl not yet 20 years old, pregnant with twins, had a serious work accident. Our duty is to ensure the safety of the mother and twins, but the girl's wish is to keep her hands.
We bravely decided to “preserve” the temporary hand on the leg until it could be reattached, giving the patient another chance to care for her two children with her own mother’s hands. The team did this within their control, so that everything could be done safely now and in the future.
In this situation, collective strength is extremely valuable," said Dr. Vo Thai Trung, Department of Orthopedics and Trauma.

The surgery was performed at 5 p.m. and lasted until 3 a.m. the following day. Currently, the mother and her two unborn children are fine, while the temporary hand transplanted to the leg is fine. It is expected that when the fetus reaches 32 weeks, the doctors will consider reattaching the patient's hand.
