Dau Tieng Lake actively releases water to respond to floods

On November 25, General Director of Southern Irrigation Exploitation Company (Company) Tran Quang Hung said that based on the water level of Dau Tieng Lake on November 24 reaching an elevation of about 23.9m, 0.5m lower than the highest water level before the flood of 24.4m, the Company adjusted the water discharge flow through Dau Tieng Lake spillway for the 8th phase, to proactively respond to the flood situation in the coming time.

Accordingly, the discharge time is from 7:00 a.m. on November 25 to 7:00 a.m. on December 2, with a flexible flow rate of ^36m3 /s - ^200m3 /s, depending on actual developments, to proactively respond to floods, which may cause flooding in low-lying areas.

After the above period, the Company will continue to discharge water to maintain the flow after the inter-reservoir dam at a minimum of ^36m3 /s. At the same time, based on weather developments, tidal developments and lake water levels, the flow and discharge time will be adjusted accordingly.

According to the owner of Dau Tieng reservoir, the maximum discharge flow of ^200m3 /s under normal conditions will not cause flooding in communes and wards along the Saigon River. The company has notified relevant localities, units and people along the Saigon River to prevent possible damage and be proactive in production planning./.
