Director couple Victor Vu - Dinh Ngoc Diep announced the film project Detective Kien: Golden Curse . After the success of Detective Kien: Headless Case with: With the Jury Award at the 24th Vietnam Film Festival and a final revenue of 249 billion VND, Victor Vu continues to develop the world of the character Kien in a long-term direction.
The new project was inspired by the novel Phuc Gia Truyen by writer Hong Thai, Dinh Ngoc Diep's biological father. Previously, Detective Kien was also based on material from the novel Ho Oan Han by Victor Vu's father-in-law.

Director Victor Vu revealed that he did not want the second film to be just an upgraded version of Detective Kien , but required it to be a new cinematic experience, not only in terms of plot but also in storytelling.
He said that after only 2 nights of reading his father-in-law's new novel, he was impressed and inspired. According to the director, the work is a treasure trove of documents, not only in terms of historical context but also in terms of character system and ideology, creating the premise for him to develop the film script.
But Victor Vu also emphasized that this project only takes inspiration from and retains about 30% of the novel's content. However, the spirit and value system of the original work are still given priority in the script development process.
Actor Quoc Huy continues to play the role of detective Kien. But this time his task is heavier: 'With this big role, I always try to find new nuances so that the character does not become boring to the audience. Honestly, I also feel pressure from Kien's shadow, but I do not let that become a barrier. I have to find a way to express myself in a new way but still attract viewers. That is not an easy challenge'.
In the first poster released, Detective Kien is leading a horse and looking towards the boat. Actor - producer Dinh Ngoc Diep revealed: 'The production encountered many difficulties because there are more than 60 different internal and external scenes. The story is also larger in scale, the setting is not only limited to an ancient city, which entails high requirements for costumes, art design and character system. Therefore, we decided to do pre-production 6 months in advance to ensure that all elements are prepared carefully and most reasonably'.
Producer Dinh Ngoc Diep also revealed that the film is expected to start filming in April 2026 and be released at the end of the year.
