Summary of the medicinal plant growing model Cat Sam in Nhu Khe commune

On the morning of November 26, in Nhu Khe commune, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center held a conference to review the model of growing medicinal plants Cat Sam according to good manufacturing practices (GACP) standards, associated with linking product consumption in 2025.

Delegates visited the Cat Sam planting model in Nhu Khe commune.

The model was deployed in Dong Tho and Nhu Khe communes from May 2025, with a scale of 10 hectares with 7 participating households (Nhu Khe 4 hectares/3 households, Dong Tho 6 hectares/4 households), density of 5,000 trees/ha. Participating households were supported with standard seeds, fertilizers and technical instructions from land preparation, planting, care to pest management. Up to now, Cat Sam trees have grown well, with a survival rate of over 90%; it is expected that after 30 months, the average yield will be 2 kg of fresh tubers/tree.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing economic efficiency, the possibility of expanding the area and care solutions in dry weather conditions. Representatives of Thuan Hang Medicinal Cooperative signed a contract to purchase products with households, ensuring stable output for the Cat Sam raw material area.
