About 300 athletes compete in the National Youth Handball Championship

On the evening of June 23, at the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Sports Stadium, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province coordinated with the Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Handball Federation to open the 2025 National Youth Handball Championship. The tournament attracted about 300 athletes competing in two categories: U18 and U20.

The tournament is an annual event organized by the Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Handball Federation in coordination with the local host. This is not only a simple sports tournament but also a big festival for handball talents across the country, where they have the opportunity to compete, learn and express themselves.

Mr. Dao Duc Kien, General Secretary of the Vietnam Handball Federation, said that the 2025 National Youth Handball Championship has attracted all localities that are investing in high-performance sports for Handball. The biggest goal of the tournament is not only to determine the champions, but this is a valuable opportunity for experts and coaching staff of national teams to monitor, evaluate and discover new outstanding factors. The most impressive faces at the tournament will be selected for the national youth team, continue to be trained to become future successors, ready to conquer regional and international arenas. Through the tournament, the Organizing Committee wants to improve the quality of organization and management of the staff and referees in a professional direction, ready to organize international tournaments in Vietnam.

This year's tournament brings together 18 men's and women's teams, in two age groups U18 and U20, from 6 provinces and cities across the country. The familiar competition format is usually a round-robin, followed by ranking matches to find the champion in each event. The competition rules apply the Handball Law issued by the Vietnam Handball Federation in 2023. Strong teams such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , Yen Bai, Binh Dinh... are strong candidates for medal sets.

The 2025 National Youth Handball Championship promises to bring the audience top-notch, dramatic and dedicated matches. The enthusiasm of youth, combined with increasingly perfected techniques and tactics, will create a vibrant sporting atmosphere. The tournament will take place until June 30 at the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Sports Stadium.
