On June 24, The Cong Viettel announced the first new player for the new season, striker Lucao from Hai Phong Club.

The Brazilian striker has played in the V-League for 5 years, playing for Hanoi , Da Nang and most recently Hai Phong.

With a height of 1.84 m and an ideal physique, the striker born in 1991 has the ability to press, fight in the air and shoot diversely in the penalty area.

In the 2024 - 2025 season, Lucao. was the V-League's top scorer (sharing the title with Nguyen Tien Linh of Binh Duong and Alan Grafite of Hanoi Police Club) with 14 goals, contributing 48% of Hai Phong Club's total goals (29 goals).

Sharing on the day of signing the contract, Lucao said: "I am very honored to wear the shirt of a club with a rich tradition like The Cong Viettel. This is a team with a strong fighting spirit, a thirst for victory and always receives enthusiastic support from fans. I came here to dedicate myself, score goals and most importantly, conquer titles with the whole team."

Thus, Viettel The Cong Club is preparing to transfer both inbound and outbound players. The army team will say goodbye to midfielder Nguyen Duc Chien (transferred to Ninh Binh Club) after this season ends. It is expected that coach Velizar Popov's team will continue to rejuvenate thanks to self-trained players, interspersed with recruiting quality foreign players to compete for the championship next season.

Coach Velizar Popov said Lucao is the piece the army team has been waiting for, as the Brazilian striker is versatile and willing to drop deep to connect the play.

"We need a striker who can take advantage of opportunities, put pressure on the opponent's defense and has experience in the V-League.

Lucao meets all those factors. He not only has the ability to score goals but also plays well as a team player, knows how to coordinate and has good tactical thinking. I believe Lucao will help us solve the problem of finishing and open up many new attacking options," coach Popov assessed.

The recruitment of Lucao not only means increasing strength but also shows the team's determination for the new season.

However, this season is not over for The Cong Viettel. On the evening of June 26, Coach Popov and his team will play the National Cup semi-final against the Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club) at Hang Day Stadium. The winning team will advance to the final to face Binh Duong or SLNA.

Last season, The Cong Viettel won the bronze medal in the National Cup, after losing to Hanoi in the semi-finals. The goal of Popov and his team is to win this tournament.
