On the evening of August 17, My Dinh National Stadium Square became a “sea of red flags with yellow stars” in the special art program “Proud to be Vietnamese”.
The program is chaired by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi People's Committee, and Vietnam Television.
The event took place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, bringing together more than 500 artists, actors, and millions of people watching on television and digital platforms.
The most emotional highlight was the performance of the National Anthem “Tien Quan Ca”. When singer Tung Duong started singing, the 200-member choir resounded and the red flag with yellow star was raised high, the entire audience at My Dinh stood up and sang the immortal lyrics.
At that moment, more than 30,000 hearts beat together, creating an unprecedented majestic "chorus", expressing the pride, love for the Fatherland and the strength of national unity.
"I once went through life and death with my comrades in the Southeast battlefield. Today, at the age of 77, I am standing among thousands of young people, singing songs about the Fatherland. I feel very proud. I am old but still want to pass on to the next generation the belief and love for the country, true to the theme of the program Proud to be Vietnamese," said Mr. Ta Ngoc Ai, from Hiep Hoa commune, Bac Ninh province.
“This is the first time I have lived in a vibrant atmosphere where tens of thousands of people sing about the Fatherland. Looking at the red flags flying, I feel excited and proud to be Vietnamese. This is not only a music night, but also a moment for the young generation like me to feel the national spirit more clearly,” said Ms. Nguyen Truong Nhu Ngoc (32 years old, Dong Da ward, Hanoi ).
Not just an artistic event, “Proud to be Vietnamese” also has profound political and social significance. The program is organized into three chapters: “Origin – Calling Vietnam”, “One Vietnam – Millions of hearts”, and “Proud to be Vietnamese”.
On the 360-degree stage inspired by the legend of Lang Lieu, the audience is taken on a journey recreating history from the founding of the country under the Hung Kings, the feats of arms against foreign invaders, the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam, to the August Revolution and 80 years of building and developing the country.
The music throughout the program is a blend of tradition and modernity. Familiar songs such as "You are Ho Chi Minh", "Praise the Fatherland", "Vietnam's Standing Position", "Aspiration", "Joining Hands", "Road to Glorious Days"... are performed by famous singers such as "The Wall", "Hoa Minzy", "Anh Tu", "Duong Hoang Yen", "Pham Thu Ha", and the group "Oplus".
This colorful combination has created an emotional artistic "party", both recalling glorious history and arousing aspirations for the future.
