Thousands of soldiers from Northern military units were present at Bien Hoa station ( Dong Nai ) to participate in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, in a solemn and proud atmosphere.

Happiness bursts out on the day we meet again

Among them, a special moment that moved many people was when Major Nguyen Ngoc Khanh (33 years old, pilot of Regiment 935, Division 370, Air Defense - Air Force), met his wife, Lieutenant Bui Thi Lan Cham (28 years old, Propaganda officer of the same unit) participating in the Military Music group, practicing in Hanoi .

During more than 2 months of training to prepare for the country's important event, the two had to be separated by a geographical distance of more than 1,500 km. Although each person was busy with work, the love and longing were always present in each person.

Sharing his feelings about meeting his wife again, Major Khanh could not hide his emotion: "I have been waiting for this day for a long time. Although we both understand that each person's job is a sacred duty, and it is inevitable that there will be periods of separation, the feeling of missing her is difficult to describe in words."

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Cham could not hold back his tears of happiness as he shared: "This is a very special moment. I was both nervous and emotional. When the train stopped and I saw him and his teammates waiting to welcome him, I was so happy that I could not hold back my tears."

During the intense training period, even though it was just a brief meeting, it gave both of them great motivation to continue to step forward in their sacred mission to the country.

During that time, Major Khanh did not hesitate to accompany his wife, help her carry her belongings, and take her to the car to move to the new unit to continue her work.

Before the car set off, Major Khanh and his wife were determined to successfully complete the upcoming 50th anniversary of national reunification. At the same time, they were also ready to participate in the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 if assigned this important task.

Meet on the train

The journey of Major Khanh and Lieutenant Lan Cham to meet each other began on a train in 2015. Major Khanh had just attended a wedding in Nha Trang, on his way back to work.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Cham, then a freshman, was on his way to Ho Chi Minh City to enroll in the Public Administration major at the National Academy of Public Administration (now the Academy of Public Administration and Management) in Ho Chi Minh City.

Lieutenant Cham recalled: “I never expected that the person sitting next to me on the train that day would become my life partner.” Major Khanh shared: “Although the train was crowded, fate brought my wife and I to sit in the same row. At that time, I was very tired, sometimes I still leaned my head on her shoulder.”

Despite feeling shy, Lieutenant Cham was still patient with his companion who looked “dusty.” When the train was nearing Ho Chi Minh City, Major Khanh woke up and noticed the worry in the eyes of the person sitting next to him.

“I just apologized and hoped to see her again to make amends. So I proactively asked for her phone number, and luckily she agreed,” Khanh recounted.

After that, Major Khanh and Lieutenant Cham often contacted each other via text messages and from there, feelings between the two began to blossom.

Once, by chance, seeing Mr. Khanh wearing a pilot's uniform next to a military plane on social media, Lieutenant Cham "liked" that post, and from then on, their relationship became closer.

“After that, Khanh also texted and cared about me regularly. Our feelings gradually developed from the smallest things,” Lieutenant Cham shared.

A month later, Major Khanh decided to go to Ho Chi Minh City to meet his friend on the same train, and from then on the two understood each other better and became close.

Lieutenant Lan Cham felt Khanh's maturity, modesty and kind heart, while Khanh was impressed by her simple, mature and independent beauty.

“In June 2019, we decided to get married. After that, my wife was also recruited into Regiment 935,” said Major Khanh.

Their little family is getting happier and happier as their son is now 6 years old, bringing laughter to the house.
