Groundbreaking ceremony of the project "Construction of cargo terminal - Cat Bi International Airport"

(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of November 16, Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV) held the groundbreaking ceremony for the project "Construction of cargo terminal - Cat Bi International Airport".

Attending the event were Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho and representatives of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, the Ministry of Transport , the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and representatives of relevant departments, branches and localities.

The Cat Bi International Airport Cargo Terminal Construction Investment Project has officially started with a total investment of 724 billion VND, with a capacity of 100,000 tons of cargo/year and a synchronous technical infrastructure system, capable of expanding to 250,000 tons of cargo/year. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in January 2026.

Cat Bi International Airport is one of the important international airports in Vietnam, playing a major role in the socio -economic development strategy of Hai Phong city, the Northern coastal region and the Red River Delta regions. Along with that, Hai Phong is developing very rapidly, the number of investors is large, the trend of transporting high-tech goods by air is increasing, and the need for transporting goods associated with air logistics services is very urgent.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho believed that this important event marked a good start for Vietnam Airports Corporation to continue to urgently deploy investment projects such as: T2 Passenger Terminal Construction Project, Aircraft Parking Expansion Project, etc. to gradually concretize the goals and decisions of the Prime Minister on planning for the development of aviation transport; contributing to the successful implementation of Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the construction and development of Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

On Hai Phong's side, the leaders of the city People's Committee committed to regularly support, create favorable conditions, and quickly resolve procedures and problems arising in the investment process of projects in Hai Phong city in general and projects of Vietnam Airports Corporation in particular so that the projects can be soon deployed, completed and put into operation, ensuring progress and investment efficiency.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation to direct contractors to concentrate resources, seriously implement the construction of project items to ensure technical requirements, quality and progress; fully comply with regulations on environmental protection, fire prevention and fighting according to current laws. Departments, branches, sectors, relevant units of the city, Hai An District People's Committee regularly follow the progress of the project implementation, create the most favorable conditions, quickly resolve procedures, and problems arising in the process of project investment and construction./.
