The summer camp takes place over 4 days, including 2 days of online learning (July 24-25) and 2 days of direct experience (July 26-27) at Quang Nam Academy Bilingual International School.
During the summer camp, campers focus on developing critical thinking, communication, teamwork, presentation, problem solving and community project building skills.
Spread the desire to share
The journey to create the ISC 2025 leadership summer camp started from the desire of Pham Le Lam Vy, a 12th grade student at Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted (Hoi An Tay Ward, Da Nang City).
Lam Vy has participated in many international education programs for youth such as Model UN, ASEAN youth leadership camp or skills training classes in Singapore and Malaysia.
From those experiences, Vy clearly realized the value of training personal capacity and leadership skills in an experiential environment, and at the same time nurtured the desire to build a similar program specifically for students in Da Nang - where she was born and raised.
“After attending several international summer camps, I saw that many students in big cities have early access to intensive skills programs. Meanwhile, students in Da Nang or neighboring localities do not have many similar opportunities. I want to bring this program back to my hometown as a way to spread what I have learned to the community. ISC 2025 is designed with that orientation, not focusing on achievements but focusing on developing thinking and social responsibility for young people,” Lam Vy shared.
As Head of the Organizing Committee, Vy and her team from the non-profit organization Youth+ Community spent months developing the program script, mobilizing resources, inviting experts, designing content and managing activities.
Accordingly, in a multidimensional learning space, campers are divided into groups to participate in the "simulated land management" model, from which they learn how to assign roles, plan actions and present ideas to a hypothetical council.
Along with that are specialized training sessions led by young speakers, typically Ms. Phan Quynh Mai, President of PISE, who represented Vietnam at the ASEAN - China - India Young Leaders Conference. Or Ms. Hoang Minh Dieu, a student at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), a TEDxTPC speaker.
Create your own journey to maturity
After nearly 4 days, the ISC 2025 Leadership Summer Camp left many deep impressions on the participating students, not only because of the well-organized model but also thanks to the close companionship of the young people in the role of leading the program.
Among them, Nguyen Hoang Dung, an 11th grade student at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted (Ban Thach Ward, Da Nang City) said that she had participated in several other summer camps, but this was the first time she felt like she was living the true role of a "young citizen" when she had to make decisions, convince others, and defend her personal opinions.
“I especially enjoyed the “Reflection Circle” session at the end of the day. Everyone shared their thoughts on what they learned, what they didn’t do well, and how to improve themselves. I realized that I had overcome my fear of public speaking and learned to listen to my teammates. This summer camp is not simply a series of summer activities, but a place for each camper to discover themselves as a leader,” said Hoang Dung.
From the perspective of an education manager, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh Thao, Principal of Quang Nam Academy International Bilingual School, highly appreciated the investment in content and quality of organization of ISC 2025. According to Ms. Thao, the program brings practical experiences, completely different from traditional learning methods.
“We accompany students not for the sake of achievement but for the sake of sustainable development of internal strength. The summer camp has created a positive learning environment, helping students to encounter reality in a safe space, receive timely support and timely feedback,” said Ms. Thao.
Sharing the same view, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Phuong, Co-founder and Communications Director of Senda Skills Academy System, said that ISC 2025 clearly demonstrates the philosophy of liberal education, taking students as the center, focusing on developing global citizenship capacity.
“We see a generation of students gradually changing in a proactive, confident, committed, and dedicated way. They are the seeds of future leadership, and models like ISC are the ideal environment for them to flourish,” said Ms. Phuong.
Although it has ended, the ISC 2025 summer camp program not only inspired young people about their social-building capacity but also opened up an innovative and sustainable educational model, where each student is empowered to grow up, to lead and to spread good values right from their school days.
