This morning (December 8), the VinFast electric car factory construction project in Vung Ang Economic Zone (Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province) was officially launched. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Hong Ha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Planning and Investment ; Mr. Hoang Trung Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee and senior leaders of the Central and local governments.
The VinFast Ha Tinh electric car factory project is built on an area of over 36 hectares, invested by Vinhomes Ha Tinh Industrial Park Investment Joint Stock Company (VHIZ Ha Tinh - a company operating in the field of industrial infrastructure development under the Vingroup ecosystem) and leased to VinFast for a long term.
With a designed capacity of 300,000 vehicles/year in phase 1, it can be increased to 600,000 vehicles/year and create up to 15,000 jobs in the following phases. The factory is expected to be inaugurated in July 2025, creating a new record in the world automobile industry for the speed of construction and completion of the factory.
In phase 1, the factory will invest in building 3 main production workshops, including a paint workshop, a body welding workshop and a vehicle assembly workshop. Other workshops will be shared with the VinFast Hai Phong factory and will be gradually added in the coming years depending on actual demand. The designed capacity of phase 1 is 300,000 vehicles/year, expected to be increased to 600,000 vehicles/year in the following phases.
According to the plan, the VinFast Ha Tinh factory will inaugurate phase 1 in July 2025, just 8 months after the project started, creating a new world record in the automobile manufacturing industry. When put into operation, the factory will create nearly 6,000 jobs for local workers, which can increase to 15,000 jobs after a period of time, thereby contributing to solving the economic and social security problems for the locality.
In the future, VinFast and its partners will continue to develop additional supporting industrial factories to supply components and spare parts for VinFast as well as supply the market. VinFast and its partners will also have attractive cooperation policies with suppliers to attract investment, locate factories in Ha Tinh, participate in VinFast's supply chain, thereby contributing to increasing the localization rate and promoting the development of Vietnam's supporting industry.
VinFast Ha Tinh factory will focus on producing two car lines VF 3 and VF 5, with main components such as chassis, engine, electronic components... imported from VinFast Hai Phong factory, while car batteries will be partly supplied by the battery factory right in Vung Ang Economic Zone. Products from VinFast Ha Tinh electric car factory will be supplied to the domestic market and exported to international markets.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang - Vice Chairman and General Director of Vingroup Corporation said: " VinFast has officially become the car company with the number 1 market share in the Vietnamese market, with the number of orders constantly increasing and the trust and support of customers is growing. Demand in international markets is also growing rapidly, so the construction of an additional electric car factory in Ha Tinh will create a solid foundation for an important and explosive development phase of VinFast in the coming time. We believe that with the support and facilitation of the government and people of Ha Tinh, the factory will soon complete construction and come into operation on schedule."
VinFast Ha Tinh factory is the 5th factory serving VinFast's electric car production activities built globally. Currently, in addition to the factory complex operating in Hai Phong, VinFast is building 3 more factories in India, Indonesia and the US, of which the two factories in India and Indonesia are also expected to come into operation in 2025.
