Launch of National Tourism Year

Attending this cultural and tourism event were leaders of departments and bureaus under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives of local leaders of Lai Chau and Son La provinces. On the side of Dien Bien province, there were comrades: Lo Van Mung, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches, along with thousands of people and tourists from all over the country.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang emphasized: As the host locality, organizing activities of the National Tourism Year 2024, Dien Bien will host 168 national and provincial events and 128 event programs, with the participation of 33 provinces and cities nationwide. The 9th Swallow-tail Boat Racing Festival and the 4th National Paragliding Club Championship in 2024 taking place in Muong Lay town are the opening events for a series of activities during the year.

At the 9th Swallow-tail Boat Racing Festival and the 4th National Paragliding Club Championship this year, there are many rich and attractive contents and activities such as: Announcing the Decision and awarding the Certificate of ranking the provincial scenic relic "Ban Bac Cave"; Art program imbued with cultural identity performed by artists and actors of the Provincial Art Troupe; paragliding performance with electric and smoke fireworks flying over the main stage; Dance and sports exchanges and costume performances of 19 ethnic groups in the province...

In particular, the Swallow-tailed Boat Race was upgraded to a provincial level, with more boat racing and paragliding competitions. During the competitions, there were demonstrations of windsurfing and paragliding; along with that, the first Dien Bien Province Tourism Promotion Conference was held in Muong Lay town, with many leading tourism experts and large travel agencies participating.
