The TBM robot has been started to drill the Nhon-Hanoi Station Metro tunnel.

On the morning of July 30th, at the S9-Kim Mã underground station, the giant 850-ton TBM robot began drilling the first meters of the tunnel for the Nhổn- Hanoi Station Metro project.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Son, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB), the launch of the TBM robot at the bottom level of the S9-Kim Ma station is a significant milestone for the underground section of the project, demonstrating the determination and efforts of all parties involved in creating a public transport system for the capital city. The Hanoi MRB Management Board, along with representatives from sponsors, consultants, and contractors, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the S9 underground station project.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Son informed that TBM No. 1, named "Rapid," will drill from station S9-Kim Ma for about 200m, while TBM No. 2, named "Bold," will continue drilling the tunnel.

The tunnel boring machines will drill approximately 10 meters per day.
The total time from the start of drilling the first TBM to the completion of the second TBM was 16 months.
After drilling is complete, the TBMs will be dismantled at station S12.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bao, Deputy General Director of FECON Joint Stock Company, shared that the TBM technology at Hanoi Metro Line 3 is a world- leading advanced technology, suitable for the mixed soil geology in Hanoi.
The tunneling process was closely supervised by international experts.
As drilling progresses, the tunnel lining panels will be assembled immediately by the TBM machine.
The underground section of the line is expected to be completed in 2027.
