With the summer vacation just beginning, many parents and students are busily shopping for books, notebooks, uniforms, and school supplies to prepare for the 2023-2024 school year, making the market very lively.

According to representatives from several bookstores in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, some schools have already announced their textbook lists, so since the beginning of June, many parents and students have come to buy books, notebooks, and school supplies in preparation for the 2023-2024 school year. Mr. Nguyen Huu Loi, Director of Ninh Thuan School Books and Equipment Joint Stock Company, said: The complete sets of textbooks have been published. Next school year, grades 4, 8, and 11 will have new textbooks, so the quantity of books will be greater than last year. Therefore, the company imported books early to ensure sufficient supply for students in schools in the area. All types of books are sold at the listed cover price, with the average price of each set of textbooks from primary to high school ranging from about 320,000 to 370,000 VND/set (depending on the school's choice).

For school supplies such as backpacks, school bags, fountain pens, ballpoint pens, pencil cases, crayons, small whiteboards, etc., there are many new models in terms of design, color, and material, and most are products from domestic brands. Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh Hung, manager of Nhan Van Bookstore, said: "Every year, suppliers like Hong Ha, Thien Long... release many new models of school supplies to give students and parents more choices. Even notebooks come in many types, from paper material, thickness, size to price. This year, notebooks with pre-covered paper, priced from 6,000 to 15,000 VND per book, are a popular choice among parents."

Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hien, residing in Phuoc My ward (Phan Rang - Thap Cham city), shared: "Learning from previous years, this year I didn't wait until the last minute to buy books, notebooks, and school supplies, avoiding the difficulty of choosing enough books. Each school chooses a different set of books, so when the school announced it, I went to the bookstore to buy them right away."

Besides shopping directly at bookstores, many parents and students choose to order online through e-commerce platforms to receive goods at home and take advantage of promotional programs. However, to choose quality products that meet requirements, authorities advise parents and students to buy books and school supplies from reputable sources to avoid returns, exchanges, or purchasing used or unapproved books.

Along with books, notebooks, and school supplies, school uniforms are also being stocked on shelves by tailors and suppliers, ready to serve students' needs for the new school year. According to businesses that manufacture and tailor school uniforms in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, demand for school uniforms will increase from mid-June onwards, so these establishments are preparing their stock in advance.

Ms. Phung Thi Thoi Gian, owner of the Thoi Gian school uniform tailoring shop on Nguyen Van Troi Street (Phan Rang - Thap Cham City), said: Ready-made uniforms are 50,000-80,000 VND cheaper per set than custom-made ones. Compared to previous years, the price of this item has not increased this year. Specifically, each ready-made uniform set (blue pants, white shirt) for students from primary to high school costs about 200,000-370,000 VND/set (depending on size). Dresses for female students cost about 120,000-200,000 VND/piece; skirts 80,000-120,000 VND/piece; shirts 75,000-180,000 VND/piece; and long pants range from 90,000-170,000 VND/pair. As in previous years, this year's high school uniforms are equally diverse in style and design, commonly featuring two colors: white and dark blue; the fabrics include Korean silk, khaki, kate, ribbed linen, etc.

Reportedly, from now until mid-July, some supermarkets and stores in the area are implementing a program offering a 10-15% discount per product on school uniforms, and a 10-20% discount on the total order value. These establishments are also increasing their stock by 20-30% compared to last year to meet the needs of students for the upcoming school year.
