Prosecution of commune vice chairman for using his name to register many motorbikes smuggled across the border

On the afternoon of July 14, the People's Procuracy of Long An province signed a decision approving the decision to prosecute Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Dai commune, Tan Hung district, Long An province, by the Security Investigation Agency of Long An Provincial Police.

Defendant Nguyen Van Thang, 41 years old, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Dai Commune, Tan Hung District, Long An Province, was prosecuted to investigate the act of "Using fake seals or documents of agencies and organizations".

Mr. Thang is also involved in the illegal cross-border motorbike trading ring. According to the Long An Provincial Police Department's Security Investigation Agency, the defendant Thang is involved in 24 registration files with the Traffic Police Department - Long An Provincial Police to obtain vehicle registration certificates for 24 large-displacement motorbikes, illegally transported from Cambodia to Long An province. The investigation process showed that Mr. Thang was directly named in 2 sets of files.

The authorities also applied preventive measures such as prohibiting him from leaving his place of residence to serve the investigation. The People's Committee of Tan Hung district, Long An province also arranged other officials to replace Mr. Thang at the Party Committee and People's Committee of Vinh Dai commune.
