Previously, the defendant Nguyen Thai Hung (born in 1979) was charged with embezzlement of assets, and is now being additionally charged with violating regulations on the management and use of state assets, causing losses and waste.
The three other defendants include: Tran Thi Huong (born in 1987, former head of the commune's accounting department), charged with negligence causing serious consequences; Nguyen Thi Viet An (born in 1993, former treasurer of the commune), charged with violating regulations on the management and use of state assets causing losses and waste; and Le Van Duong (born in 1983, former Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of the commune), charged with embezzlement of assets.
In addition, Nguyen Huyen Trang (born in 1993, a freelance worker), the younger sister of Nguyen Thi Thu (born in 1989, former head of accounting at the commune), was also prosecuted for embezzlement as an accomplice.
Previously, on January 25, 2024, Nguyen Thi Thu was prosecuted and investigated for allegedly fabricating documents and using the digital signatures of the chief accountant and account holder to illegally withdraw over 2.2 billion VND from the budget and agency funds between 2021 and 2023. The investigating agency determined that this act was facilitated and resulted from lax management by the Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, Nguyen Thai Hung, and several related individuals.
The case is still under investigation and being expanded to ensure strict handling in accordance with the law.
